I am a regular traveller to Switzerland and know Lucerne well but this was the first time I had stayed in the city. I had a wonderful room (not that I had booked a superior room) with a view towards the lake and boat station. The location could not be better for what Lucerne has to offer. Central to the shopping districts of Pilatus Strasse and the absolutely wonderful old town. Everything in Lucerne is to hand and with the transport network including the fabulous boat cruises on the lake and the main railway station next door (don't worry even the station is stylish) you are a matter of minutes away from infinite excursions. The hotel is an architectural gem. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was enjoyable and there is a lovely restaurant "The Kitchen" with views over the bustle of the city below. Hidden at the very top is a great lounge bar with an an amazing roof top terrace. They even provide rugs so its possible to enjoy the view of city at night in October. I'll definitely stay here again. Oh and even the TV had ITV channels!

Room Tip: Ask for a central room at the front with a view of the lake, I recommend the higher floors.

Dear Michael L.

We thank you very much for your stay at the hotel ****MONOPOL Lucerne and for taking the time to give us your important feedback. It is wonderful to hear that you have been so satisfied with the Hotel room, facing the lake and boat Station.

We are very happy that you enjoyed the location, directly at the train station Lucerne and the KKL Culture and Convention Centre (no taxi needed), in the middle of the center, by the lake, the famous Chapel Bridge and the tourist sites.

It would be great to welcome you back again in our hotel MONOPOL Lucerne and we hope you had a safe journey home.

Warmest regards,

Brigitte Heller
General Manager and team

The Landmark Hotel has a great location next to the train station. They have reallocated the lobby space to a Starbucks, McDonalds and a bar. The bar is very successful but that brings a noise factor. The bar noise went on to 3:00am. As a historic landmark air conditioning is not available so if your window is open you will hear the noise! The staff was professional and courteous. Again great downtown location.

Room Tip: Higher floors to avoid the noise

Ideally located, next to train station, bus stop going to pilatus kulm and main attractions.
Room was super large.
The cleanliness was not the best, especially the carpet was rather dirty.
Price wise, it's typical Switzerland price, nothing is cheap.
In the end the price is for the location, another 4* hotel will cost almost the same, cleanliness was our min concern

The hotel is beautiful and right across from the train station and tourist information center. It's an easy walk to the Chapel bridge and old town. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We asked to extend our stay from 2 nights to 3. There was no availability unless there was a last minute cancellation. They followed up, without any further discussion, and we were able to stay in our same room an additional night. Our room was lovely, with a view of the lake. Very nice experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a view if possible.

First impressions - not great. Exterior is beautiful, grand building and then the entrance hall is like the entrance to some cheap dentist. The hotel have obviously sold over the space to Starbucks and McDonalds and you reach reception via a rather drab corridor.
Next impressions - the opposite. Lovely, attentive staff. Quick check in. Rooms were bright and modern, with multi-channel TV (Was able to watch Wales beat England in Rugby WC !). Hotel could not be closer to station. Breakfast was quite good, with great coffee machine. Would I stay again? Almost definitely.....I just wish the owners could get someone with some imagination to do something with the foyer.

Room Tip: Rooms at back withoiut the view are better. Ask for room 618, which has a small balcony.
