Visited last week when my football team were playing FC Lucerne. As already said location excellent for central Lucerne sights and for lake excursions and yards from the train station. Our room was very large including sofa and chairs. It was extremely warm on our visit and due to historical building there is no air con - whilst it was very hot a room fan was provided and sleeping with the window wide open wasn't a problem (even with our fans 'serenading' in the early hours of the morning). Breakfast selection fine for most. Would definitely return

We stayed at the triple room which is very specious, very clean and magnificent view of Lugano lake and the city from the window of our room 615. As an old building, there is no air-con in the old building but they provided 2 fan for us; we did not use them as the temperature was 25°c in July.
- There is minibar in room. At 4th floor, there is tiny room for ice cubes and electric kettle for hot water.
- The receptionist is very friendly and willing to give informations, also has adaptors to borrow.
- Right at the train station for buses and boat tour, you can get anythings from Coop at the train station, 5 min walking for elderly to Chapel bridge.

We will stay at this hotel agian when going fo Luzern.

We only stayed one night but wished it had been more. It is a beautiful old Hotel in excellent condition and well presented. No Air-conditioning as it is a heritage listed property but this did not create an issue at all for us as a fan is provided in the room.
Daniela checked us in and what a delight she was. Gave us wonderful advice on where to go in the city and recommended restaurants for us. As it turned out it was the Luzern festival and we had a wonderful time wondering the city listening to bands with a drink and taking in the food from the street stalls so Daniela cancelled our reservation for us. all the staff where excellent, breakfast was very good. Would defiantly say here again.

Room Tip: If you have a car make sure you prebook a space with the Hotel.

We were travelling around Europe on the Eurail so the Hotel Monopol was in the perfect location right opposite the railway station! We had a lovely large room and bathroom and found it had everything we needed except tea making facilities. Breakfast was included and was adequate. It is easy walking distance to explore beautiful Lucerne and we were very happy with our stay.

This hotel is housed in an old building, but is very well maintained. Its centrally located from the trains stations, shops, eateries like Starbucks and McDonalds and the lake near by.
My room was on the top floor overlooking the railway station and the lake and the eateries downstairs. Fabulous view.

The only drawback was that this hotel does not have AC's and it does get quiet hot during July.
The staff was courteous enough to provide another fan in the room.

Rooms in all of Europe are small so this was no exception.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the top floor and ask for another fan if it gets too warm.

We chose to stay at this hotel because its very close to train station (just a few minutes of walk) where we arrived and took day trips by train. Its also close to KKL center where we attended a concert. It surprised us that the hotel lift is right next to entrance of Starbucks where there were quite a flow of customers. So security is non-existent. There was a day that house-keeping only came to clean the room at about 4pm after two phone calls. The week we stayed there the weather was very hot, however we couldn't open the window as there were many flies due to the eateries (McDonalds, Starbucks etc.) at the entrance of the hotel. The room was quite big though and had a view of the lake.

The location of the hotel is very good as it's just opposite the railway station. When we went to check-in, there was a middle aged receptionist, who wasn't warm at all, rolling her eyes and getting irritated with every query of ours.
The room was clean but very small and noisy and hot. The breakfast was basic.
