“Typical European small hotel but good location”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Typically to centered European hotels, rooms are very small, clean and modernly, well furnished. The staff is amazing: they are always smiling, very helpful and extremely professional. The hotel is located on a main street, few minutes walk from Lucerne train station, 10 minutes walk from Lucerne lake and city (shopping) center. There are lots of clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants around the hotel and there is a nice pub/restaurant at the hotel ground floor. Wifi is free and signal was strong in my room.
Breakfast is very much acceptable for a European 4 stars hotel.
As a summary, if you are in a business trip or with your partner (only one child is allowed in the room because of the size) for a short trip than i highly recommend this hotel.
I didn't see any pools so i don't believe they have one but they have a small gym in the first floor.

Dear guest

Many thanks for your positive comment and recommendation of our property to other travellers.

For families with a child we recommend to book one of our Junior Suites that are very spacious and comfortable even with a baby crib.

Being a small historical building, we do not have a pool, just a gym on the first floor.

Looking forward to your next visit we send you our best regards from Lucerne!
Your Renaissance Team

This is a lovely small hotel with only 90 rooms, which is very small for a Marriott. The staff was helpful and polite, although we had a problem checking in. We used "points" for this stay, but the hotel had some problem (caused by them I believe). They wanted us to pay for the stay and get our money back later. They did so very politely and seemed surprised when I said no. However, they were helpful calling the various entities and getting it straightened out when we insisted.

The rooms are nice up to date, very clean and comfortable. We really couldn't have asked for nicer accommodations. We had a mini fridge and coffee maker. The breakfast was nice, maybe not the best I ever had, but still quite nice. The location is convenient and close to the sites.

The only problem was that the hotel's restaurant is a club at night and even on the 4th floor we could hear and feel the thumping if the music late into the night.

Room Tip: Get as far away from the restaurant as you can--get a room at the back and high up.

Dear guest

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience with other travellers.

Many thanks for all the positive comments about our property and our apologies for the time you had to spend at the front desk until we sorted out the points coverage of your stay.

We also regret that you have been affected by our sister outlet Pacifico, where the weekends can be very lively.

We also have quiet rooms located away from our bars, do not hesitate to request one upon your next stay.

Looking forward to welcoming you soon again

we remain with our best regards

Wow! This hotel is very worth the money. Location is 3 minutes from main train station. Very clean and modern hotel. The bathroom had a rain shower and separate toilet with a door. The bed was very soft and had like 8 or 9 very comfortable pillows. Also had a balcony with view to the street. I have to take a moment to thank Ms. Jenna Jeschek, hotel manager, as she made our honeymoon stay a very exquisite one. They know how to treat their customers. A++ for service. Hands down best hotel in luzern! And this is coming from people with very high standards. Dont be a fool, stop looking for other options and book hotel renaissance today! I dont even know why its #9 on this list LOL

Just like the engine (train) in the story, this hotel might be small but it has HEART. The customer service is exceptional: starting with the story that it's the smallest hotel in the Marriott chain but that a patron will still get the service they expect from stays at Marriotts. And they are right! Standard rooms are small but well-equipped, deluxe rooms are bigger with more window space but each have the same nice beds, well-laid out bathrooms and flat-screen TV. The front desk staff all were excellent - I would stay here again anytime!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking courtyard quieter but I had one just off Pilatus and it was fine even with the win...

Situated 5 minutes walk from the center this hotel is nice. Remarkable the kindness of the staff speaking french or english and welcome warmly at the check in, providing useful indication for parking, city visits and check out. Only to point the reservation of 100 chf per day at the check in for extras. Seems quite high. I got a room at the 4th floor. Ideal for avoid noise coming from the restaurant at ground floor. Room quite small with bizarre access at bathroom. But fully equipped comfortable beds and pillows. Nescafe available . Very poor minibar so again no sense to reserve 100 chf. Breakfast very rich and full of fresh fruits, excellent yoghourt and juice fruit. Again staff very kind. Parking not available but hotel provides a voucher that allow 24 hours stay for 26chf. Considering crazy prices of parking in Luzern is a good deal. Overall I rate a good enough stay.

During my trip to Lucerne, I stayed at the hotel and it was great! My flight to Lucerne was not so great, but that was all forgotten once I checked in at the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was greeted very friendly by the staff and they answered all of my questions about my stay. The rooms are a bit small, but they are highly functional. You will not need a big room anyway whiile in Lucerne since you will be exploring the city. The hotel is centrally located and about 15-20 min within walking distance of all the interesting places to visit.

I decided to eat dinner at the Restuarant Pacifico which is a part of the hotel. It's a Latin themed restaurant which I did not expect to find in Lucerne. The food was excellent, and they also have a Happy Hour that starts around 5 pm (discounted drinks & appetizers). The staff was very polite and friendly. Jenny was one of my waitresses and she did an excellent job in taking care of me and was very attentive to my needs. Be sure to ask for Jenny during your visit and you will be very pleased with her service.

I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Renaissance in Lucerne!

Room Tip: The rooms are very quiet. I stayed right next to the elevator and did not hear any noise.

We were looking for a hotel close to the train station for a one night visit to Lucerne and were very happy with the Renaissance. We had 2 quiet comfortable single rooms which both made ingenious use of every inch available and our 3rd single was upgraded to a large double in the eaves of the hotel which had wonderful views through architecturally interesting windows! Great Molton Brown toiletries in the bathrooms and an exceptionally good hotel breakfast included in the room rate. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but the bar/restaurant seemed very lively when we returned. The only downside was that the wifi/internet was not working the whole afternoon/evening/night we were there and reception's only suggestion was to go down the road to another hotel...(it was raining and dark at that point.)
