As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are pretty small. Our superior room was amazing for the comfort of the bed, the mountain view and quietness of the room BUT there was no separate bathroom, with it forming part of the bedroom. Not such a big issue for us, but I could imagine a lot of people would not like this. The hotel is well located and in walking distance of most sights. There is a great Bachmann bakery nearly next door which does great breakfasts, cakes and sandwiches, so we did not try the expensive hotel offering. Wi fi worked fine for me. Receptionists were lovely and genuinely welcoming and helpful. The mini bar was poorly stocked. The hotel restaurant is a popular and cool tex mex joint, with great but expensive cocktails. No bath, but shower was modern and functional. Overall, I had a good stay and would happily return.

Room Tip: Go for a superior room on the top floor, not on the road side.

Just spent 3 days in this hotel. Located close to the lake, railway station, shops, dining etc.
Decent rooms (at least ours was), large screen TV including BBC1/2/ITV. Very helpful staff, a really great place to stay, even managed an upgrade without asking. Pity about the weather, mostly raining but had a wonderful hop on/hop off boat trip on the one good day we had. Ignore the moaning Minnies this really is a good place to stay in Lucerne. Only downside for me was the fact that breakfast was a little expensive at CHF30 each but then so is the whole of Switzerland.

Room Tip: Didn't have any problem with noise and we were street side.

This was the worst hotel we stayed at in Europe. The rooms are tiny and they charge you through the nose.

They ignored my request for a feather free room, I am a vegetarian and very uncomfortable with the idea of plucked duck feathers in my pillows, all the pillows were feathers.

They provided coffee making facility's but no teaspoons.

The doors we unbelivably thin, we could hear every person who walked past and understand clearly what they were saying.

They placed us in what might as well have been the attic in tiny tiny rooms.

At the price we paid internet should be free, but they had a strange system of giving one hour log ins. This is 2012, internet should be a given (it is in most hotels).

Would not recommend this hotel, would not stay here again.

Terrible choice for our honeymoon.

Room Tip: Dont stay here.

The Renaissance Luzern is a great hotel that is convenient to most all locations in Lucerne. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked a junior suite and were very happy with the space and nice bathroom. We arrived early, but were allowed to check into our room.

The hotel is located just a couple of blocks from the train station and a 5 minute walk from the main areas (Chapel Bridge etc). There are many options for dining close by (as well as a Starbucks and fast food options). There is a nice pastry shop just to the left of the hotel that has fabulous options for breakfast each morning. Traditional restaurants can be found across the bridge and there are multiple options (we loved the Old Swiss House- pricy but excellent food and interesting history).

The hotel provides a nice walking map of the town with main attractions highlighted. We followed the dotted line on the map and found it to be a great walking tour of the city.

As in most hotels, the room beverages and snacks are overpriced (6 chf) whereas you can pick up bottled water at local shops for 1.50.

The fitness room is adequate but could use more weights. There is no pool in the hotel. The internet is free, but kicks you offline every 20 minutes or so which is frustrating.

We stayed at the renaissance for two nights and for the price it was a nice room,a little small but very comfortable. It was very near to all the major attractions and eateries. The area around is very nice including all the shops too. They have a very nice restro bar and the cuisine is very palatable.

We paid approx 660chf for 3nts which was approx £450. This included breakfast and compared to other hotels available, seemed a fair price in Lucerne. However our room was pretty small (609). There was just enough space to walk around the bed and just enough space for the clothes we had for the short weekend break. However not much space for 2 people passing each other. The bathroom was modern but small. However despite small room issues, the shower was very good and bed very comfortable. Water in the room was stupidly expensive (6chf!) so I recommend picking up water from one of the local shops. Hotel was in central location for getting around Lucerne and handy for quick walk to train station. However Pacifico was too busy on Sat night to enjoy it and on Sunday night despite a very hard working batman, other wait staff were rude about where we could sit but didn't challenge others for sitting in same area later that night! Very poor customer service considering we were staying in hotel. However breakfast wait staff and reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast options good but be careful if going down at end of service as limited hot food and fresh fruit was available one day however next we were asked if we wanted boiled eggs specially ordered from kitchen, so staff do try.
