“OK hotel near train station”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2011

Overall, we enjoy our stay in the Junior Suite as it is everything that we have expected from Renaissance, we enjoy the coffee machine in the room.

However there is one incident that we were really unhappy about regarding breakfast, we were told to go to Breakfast room during check in. We went in and were requested to go to our place which turn out to be breakfast place for Asian tour groups. We were quite offended that she didnot even bother to check our room number which is a Junior Suite and immediately sent us off to join the tour groups which donot recognised and we felt like intruder. Worst part, she doesnot even have the decency to apologise.

We have complaint on spot and a concierge called Anne has done her best to comfort us and we appreciate it, thanks to her that make up some part of our unhappy morning. One suggestion, please donot give excuses like she had problem with her husband hence in rather lousy mood, when you are in service industry, nobody care about your issue, you need to deliver the best, if you are not in a good mood, take day off please....

Lastly please donot regard all Asians are part of big tours that are served with limited breakfast choice, please treat all your guests respectfully. This is only a comment on the lady in breakfast room and not representing the other depts in the hotel. We got chocolate and personalised apology letter which compensate somehow....

In the center of everything. Two block walk from the main train station, so no need for expensive taxis. 10 minute walk to the Old Town and pretty much everything. Excellent front desk staff. Only issues I had with the hotel was there was no Executive Lounge, but it is the smallest Renaissance in the World. They do offer complimentary breakfast. Also, the convertors only worked to charge my BB, iPad and laptop, no good for the flat iron in the bathroom. Lousy view, but huge room and bathroom. Modern with all the amenities in the room; flat screen, huge shower, etc.. Lights are bit annoying because you have to use your key card and all the lights are either on or off. A pain but only there for two nights and used Marriott points. Totally worth the 60K, you won't regret using them!

I loved this hotel. Great front desk and housekeeping staff. Large room. I must have been upgraded.Huge rain shower in bathroom. The room looked brand new. It was comfortable. Good location a few blocks from train station. Free wifi. Nespresso machine in room was fabulous. This hotel met all my needs.

This is truly a wonderful gem of a hotel in the wonderful city of Luzern.
My impressions of a city to which i have been upteen times was that one cannot stay anywhere else bu at one of the lake facing hotels....but i take this impression back after staying at this wonderful gem which is so well located in Luzern, o f course not facing the lake but inspite of that very conveniently located just near the lake and the station from where its very easy to go all over switzerland and the mountains nearby.
Though this hotel belongs to a large chain still this particular hotel does not give you that impression as it has some great staff all over the hotel who remember you by name and also the staff takes care of all your needs and yes wi fi is free so a great advantage.
The breakfast is good ,they do make you omlettes which is good and the coffeee is good too.
I would definately stay here again when next in luzern. The corridors are narrow but give you the impression of being in a small and an intimate hotel

Room Tip: Dont choose a room on the top floor as the roof is slanting

Stayed at the Renaissance this past weekend. Really nice little boutique hotel. Staff at front desk were fabulous. Really went out of their way to give great recommendations and ensure we knew exactly where to go, etc. As others have said, room was small but adequate. Nice bathroom and amenities. Comfortable bed and nice TV.

Not alot of options in Lucerne for name brand hotels. Would definitely stay there again.

Two minuses.... both previously mentioned by others but worth repeating ...

1. we were in room 506 which was nice but unfortunately over the nightclub ... as you can't control room temp other than turning on/off the fan, we wanted the window open. Impossible with the club goers coming and going ...

2. no restaurant or bar or executive lounge ... breakfast in the lounge was ok (not great) - took 15 minutes for omelette ... really missed not having exec lounge to get waters or sodas ...

Again ... all previously mentioned ... just one other thought ... Switzerland is extremely expensive - so if you are looking for a quick, cheap getaway - this is NOT the place...

that being said, really enjoyed Lucerne ...

We stayed two nights during our stay in Lucerne. The hotel was great, and the hotel staff was very helpful and professional. They suggested great / non-tourist places to eat and were very responsive.

The room was very nice and modern, with a nice bathroom (large for European standards!) and a big flat screen TV.

Our only negative part was the shower water did not get as hot as we would have liked. We were told this was for our safety.

I'll be staying here next time we visit Switzerland!

Room Tip: Breakfast is expensive, there are local places you could walk to instead.

We recently stayed here on a trip through Europe. Only thing I regret is not having a longer stay in Switzerland and most notably, Lucerne and this hotel!

From check-in to check-out, it was smooth and the front desk staff were super nice! After being in Paris, Rome, Venice, where the people are not always that pleasant, this was such a great end to a great Europe trip!

I'm a platinum Marriott member so we got upgraded and free breakfast. Breakfast was excellent, service, food, everything! Room was amazing! You wouldn't think this kind of room would be available in such a small hotel but it was amazing! This hotel is centrally located, just blocks from the train station. Get out of the train station, head straight past Starbucks, McDonald's about 2 blocks and there you are!

Lucerne is a small town but so quiet and cute! Definitely book more days in Switzerland next time and stay at the Renaissance Lucerne!!
