“Great hotel on the outskirts of town”
Reviewed April 22, 2005

Another great find on our trip to Switzerland. We booked a free-upgrade special directly on the hotel's website to get one of the rooms in the original hotel section with a balcony overlooking the lake for approximately $200 US.

As others have pointed out, the hotel has an older section that was completely refurbished in the late 90s. I thought it was done last year it was in such great shape. (see the pictures) There is another section added on that from the outside, is hideous. But those rooms are also supposed to be of comparable standard inside, and a bit cheaper, but spring for the upgrade if it's $50 or less. (or free with web special)

So many good things... where to start...

Awesome bathroom with double vanity, top quality fixtures/surfaces, towel heater, lots of floor space - design so modern I can't believe it's been there for 8 years. Balcony was fantastic although it was raining... Room is average size for Europe - not huge, but fine for two people. Turn-down service with complimentary bottled water and kit-kat bars was a nice surprise. Included buffet breakfast was very nice. The common areas of the hotel were very nice and although the photos made the modern connecting section/restaurant look awkward, inside, it's beautiful with a nice view.

Only complaint - A/C didn't seem to be working properly; call to the front deask at 2AM didn't get a friendly response. But it was cool enough to just crack a window. This was the only lapse in otherwise outstanding service.

Highly recommended, even at up to $300/night.

We stayed in this hotel in October 2004. Very comfortable, extremely clean and the staff could not do enough to help us. Our balcony overlooked the lake with a small balcony to sit and view from. You can change the temperature of the room to your liking, there is a tv and a minbar. Great size bathroom with a shower, wc and two sinks. Every night, bottled water and a mini toblerone is left out for you by the bed! Easy access to main town by regular bus which stops just outside. The food is tasty, plentiful and beautifully presented.

We stayed at this hotel in July, 2004. The hotel consists of two sections- a standard hotel which looks much like a Holiday Inn, and the Chalet which is more upscale. We stayed in a junior suite in the Chalet in room 16. The Chalet is very contemporary inside while preserving its original appearance on the outside. The two buildings rather clash with each other, but that did not impact our wonderful stay. Groups seem to be assigned rooms in the hotel building. We had a beautiful junior suite with a balcony (with chairs & table) overlooking Lake Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus. The room was large and also had a separate sitting area. The breakfast buffet which was included in the rate was excellent. The street in front of the Seeburg is quite busy, but the room was 100% quiet. It should be noted that not all rooms and suites in the Chalet have bathtubs- ours had only a stall shower. A bus into central Lucerne (Banhif) stops right in front of the hotel about every 20 minutes; this eliminated the problem of trying to find parking in this small city. If you use this option, purchase a bus pass from the front desk. We highly recommend this fine hotel.
