“Very informative, and I learnt lots about glaciers”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

This attraction is free with a Swiss Pass (which I had).

On entering the attraction, I was immediately struck by the glacial potholes of impressive proportions which bear witness to the last ice age and to the fact that Lucerne was once covered by glaciers. There are multimedia shows which illustrate the effect that climate change is having on the glaciers in Switzerland.

In fact, the multimedia show I watched about the Morterasch glacier inspired me for my next Swiss adventure! Hope to visit the Engadin next year and do a guided glacier hike.

“A tiny little attraction”
Reviewed June 29, 2012

Not a very well worth for $$ to spend on, due to limited attraction within the park. It was interesting though to see those rocks from ice age and played in the maze...

“Perfect for that free afternoon”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

This attraction comes free with your Swiss Pass [ otherwise it is 12 CHF ] . Open all days except Feb 6 , hours 0900 - 1800 [ Summers ] . The not to be missed highlights

1] The cavernous potholes . Ever been to the Blyde River Canyon in South Africa ? You will find this very interesting

2] The amazing collection of geographic models and fossils

3] Period history and furnishings

4] The maze - everyone loved this , including my octogenarian parents . Ever been a child yourself ?

5] The souvenir shop that has neatly packed small fossils / gemstones for 3-5 CHF . Very reasonable by Swiss standards

6] The watch tower [ stiff climb ] with views esp of the General Insurance building and Mt Pilatus

In short , something for everyone with a couple of hours to spare . Heartily recommended

TIP - I did not go through the excellent website and in hindsight missed some very interesting things [ Eg the Gorner Glacier Diorama ] . Please make the effort to check out the official website and make a note of what is of your interest .

“Mixed views on this!”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

This is next door to the Lion Monument and the admission price is a bit steep by UK standards. There are some glacial exhihibits which are interesting and an amazing collection of panoramic photographs of the Alps. There is an amusing mirror maze and you can certainly wander about for a while without being bored. Bit expensive for what it is though.

“Unfortunately just not very interesting...but the mirror maze was great fun!”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

Maybe we were just overtired and not able to focus on the information, but my husband and I just couldn't really get into the glacier garden. We found ourselves walking through it pretty quickly. However, there is a mirror-maze as part of the exhibit, and we found this hilarious and entertaining!
