We stayed in Sonnwendhof for two nights during our summer vacation. The hotel was a bit difficult to find. Coming from the town center you need to pass the railway station and then immediately turn to right, the hotel is at the end of the street. Due to the proximity to the railway you can hear the trains whistle if your room is facing the station, first one at 6.45 AM.
The hotel itself is very nice, it offers the standard 3 star comforts. Rooms are a bit small (a lot smaller than in the web site!) but they are very clean and at least ours had recently had new carpeting. Bathrooms are clean as well but could use some updating.
Service is extremely friendly and breakfast buffet had a good selection. My only complaint is about the WiFi which costs 5 CHF/30 mins or 15CHF/3 hrs. Garage costs normally 15 CFH/ day but we got a promotional price of 7,5 CFH/day. There is also a small parking space outside(free) but it was always full.
There's no gym/pool in this hotel but guests can use the wellness area at Ramada hotel.
In overall we had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to stay in Sonnwendhof again.
PS. we can highly recommend dining at Ramada hotel - you would never expect to get that high quality dining in a chain hotel like Ramada. They also have a pretty good wine list there and the service was excellent as well!
