“Good hotel, warm hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

I stayed for two night n three days in June 2012 with my family and friends on group tour from Thomas Cook . We enjoyed every movement of stay. They have a good collection of books, nice lobby, home like atmosphere , good breakfast, very nice rooms specially corner ones. They provide us a hall for our evening cultural programme , which we all appreciated . Mrs Suzanne and others were very hard working to make our stay comfortable, they deserve a great appreciation . Thanks, we will strongly recommend this hotel to our friends and others as well. We will like to repeat our stay again in future.

We had a ten day skiing holiday staying in the Edelweiss and loved every minute of it. From the moment we were picked up at the station we were welcomed with friendliness and humour.
The hotel is ideally situated just above the village centre, has good rooms, good food and a marvellous atmosphere generated by the owners, Peter and Suzanne, and their courteous, enthusiastic staff. There is something different arranged most evenings and the trip up to a farmhouse for a traditional supper and on another evening a fondue in a mountain restaurant followed by a torchlight ski down were definite highlights. The shuttle from the hotel to the ski lifts is very efficient and only takes minutes. This was a really great holiday and we highly recommend this excellent hotel.

Room Tip: South facing has good views and catches the sun.

a warm thanks for your review from snowy and very cold Angel-Mountains. Yes: you were very active in our valley and did participate in our program very attentively. Thanks for that as well; it motivates ourselves and our Edelweiss-Team. Cheers and see you, Peter & Susanne.

We are a family with two children and stayed at the Edelweiss for the first time during a recent vacation and had a very memorable holiday. The owners Susanne and Peter went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. My wife and I were both tentative about resuming skiing due to past injuries but Susanne accompanied us to the slopes and helped us regain our confidence so that we were back skiing regularly. Peter organised a walk around the Trubsee area where the winter scenery was incredibly beautiful. Additional activities included excursions to a nearby mountain village and Swiss cultural evenings. The children had separate activities including cookie baking, story telling, etc.

The breakfast and the dinners at the hotel were good and they also accommodated special dietary requests. The hotel also has a small sauna area and a whirlpool on the terrace and we ended most of the hotel facilities. The staff were very friendly.

The hotel is located on an elevation and the approach was icy and slippery but the hotel provides a shuttle to ferry skiers to and from the slopes.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with a view of the mountains. We stayed at rooms 214 and 215 which had great views as...

Spent last week end in this Hotel. Liked the whole building complex and its charme.
We booked a family apt with 2 separate rooms, good view over the mountain, good size and bed confortable.
We liked the breakfast, the playroom for the kids, the bar with the open fire, and the service overall. Every morning the owner took us to the cablecar and back (very helpful)
Breakfast was good...perhaps more swetiees would do better.
First night the dinner was ok, second night the buffet was just ok (overcooked pasta its' not what you wanna eat !)
I certainly would go back next time I am in Engelberg

As I travel for my work I live in hotels some 200 days a year. Edelweiss is the only hotel I can truely relax in feeling home from home. The staff make my wife and I feel like family and have truely become friends. Having only time for one holiday a year it must be better than good. Edelweiss and the Kuhn family ensure of this. As a result we have become annual regulars (well almost 10 of 13 years) and the pleasure received never diminishes. Edelweiss & the Kuhn,s we love you.

A pleasant hotel, well located (just a short, slightly uphill walk from the centre of the town).
We had booked a superior room with a balcony, and this was adequately sized and equipped. The bathroom was rather small, but provided everything we needed, including an efficient over-bath shower.
On one of our two evenings, there was a short drinks reception in the lounge area before dinner, with some jolly music from a delightful little barrel-organ. Although we were on bed & breakfast, we opted to have the set four-course dinner one evening – which consisted of a salad buffet, soup, main course (with choice) and dessert. We thought this was very good value (for Switzerland!) at 35 francs per person – Good food, nicely presented, and served in a pleasant dining room.
Breakfast was a well-presented standard buffet.
We thought drinks in the hotel were very reasonably priced (for Switzerland!)
All staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel owner spoke excellent English and was helpful in organising tickets for the cable car to Mt Titlis, and in advising on walking in the area.
