“Great location but missing some of the finer details for a hotel of this level”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for a long weekend.

Pros: bus to lift across the street extremely central location for all restaurants and bars and a very short walk to the train station, large bathtub in room fills up very fast, ok lobby bar, nice pool

Cons: windows are not double glazed making street noise (and people) very loud, asked for a toothbrush at 10p and was told they couldn't get to me till 6a, heavy room keys need to be returned to front desk everyday making it a trip from room to front desk to boot room to outside, breakfast staff seemed understaffed, 'jacuzzi' next to pool was really a one man tub which cost 5fr to use, many people in hotel bar in bathrobes which was not appropriate but staff did nothing to intervene

In the end a nice town but Engelberg a bit of a pain to get up mountain. On a busy Saturday you could be waiting an hour at the bottom in a queue and takes another hot to get to the top. Lots of Asian tourists not great either but can be avoided by skiing on the right of the mountain.

I only have positive things to say about this hotel, which is an exceedingly comfortable and convenient place to stay in Engelberg, the foremost being:
1. The most excellent staff, who were very welcoming and friendly, and assisted us with every query (and were on hand when we arrived exhausted at 1am in the morning from Zurich airport to check us in). The wonderful restaurant staff even presented me with a homemade cake at breakfast on my 30th birthday (Friday 22 February) which was a very lovely and thoughtful touch and really made my day. Unfortunately I couldn't eat more than one piece as I was recovering from an illness and on orders to avoid dairy. It was delicious though so I am glad I managed one piece - a special thank you to the restaurant staff!
2. Excellent location for skiing - right opposite the free ski shuttle bus stop. The reception staff can also print your lift passes to avoid the queues at the gondola!
3. Great breakfast buffet and the a la carte also very good. We did not get a chance to try the more upmarket Italian restaurant but it looked very inviting.
4. Great value rooms with all the necessary comforts, very clean. Lots of wardrobe space, plenty of room for bags, and hooks to hang all of your skiing paraphernalia, plus a good sized desk and sofa, balcony and flat screen tv. The bathrooms look to have been recently renovated to a very good standard and I appreciated the large fluffy bathrobes!
I wish we had the time to check out the sauna and spa facilities (too busy skiing and eating I'm afraid!) as they looked very nice.
Finally, the staff all speak excellent English but were also happy to let me me practise my rusty German on them.
A very big (and belated) thank you for making my 30th birthday skiing weekend such a lovely experience.

The hotel was very comfortable and all staff were friendly and helpful. The location was great for both the skiing (bus stop outside the hotel and only a few minutes to the slopes) and the town. The wellness facilities were great too with a big sauna, steam room and showers. The bar however only had a limited menu and little atmosphere so best to head out into the town.

We had our first ski trip as a family and booked Ramada hotel. It was a good ski holiday and the view from our room as we requested the view of the mountains was breath-takingly gorgeous!! The snow covered grounds, roof tops, tree tops and hills was just so picturesque. Our hotel came with a good breakfast buffet too and the little tea pots used to served tea was so cute. The spread of cheese, bread and meat was also very generous and the staff was very friendly.

The location of the hotel was in a convenient spot as it was a good 4 minute walking distance from the Engelberg train station and it was close to restaurants, sports rental stores and ski schools.

We wished we stayed longer!!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor and to have your room face the mountains.

My husband and I spent a couple nights at this hotel. We took the train into Engelberg and it was easy for us to schlep our luggage to the hotel as it is only a couple blocks away, even in the snow. Every girl we dealt with at reception was very helpful and gave us great recommendations. You get Toblerone chocolates at arrival and on your pillow. Room was decorated nicely and had a fridge. Plus there are robes and slippers in the room. The bus picks you up right outside and drops you off at the lifts, plus you can take it around town for free. The spa is awesome after a day on the slopes. We paid the extra 5 francs to use the whirlpool. Plus used the pool and the steam room. Definitely helped us from being sore the next day. The hotel is right in the center of town, close to places to rent equipment, restaurants and shops. There is a Co-op around the corner where you can pick up water, beer, food and snacks. It is much less expensive than the hotel offers. Breakfast was tasty and had lots of options. There was even a bottle of champagne to make mimosas - not sure if this just on the weekends. One other thing, you can buy lift tickets from reception.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first level (Room 111) and faced the front of the building. It had a great view...

On 12 January, my husband and I were staying in Engelberg (not at the Ramada but with friends) and stopped at the Ramada to make a dinner reservation (we were intrigued by the pasta vs. wok show that was advertised just outside). When we returned for dinner, a very, very sweet young lady asked if we would like to be seated in the Restaurant "La Stega" (more romantic atmosphere instead of the family style restaurant next door where the pasta/wok show was). At her urging, she showed us "La Stega" and we agreed it was more of a "romantic" setting. She and the staff accommodated our desire to order from the pasta menu and extended 5-star, fine dining service during our visit! Highly recommend eating here - we will try staying at the Ramada in Engelberg during our next overnight visit.

We stayed in the hotel for the end of the year and it was very relaxing & wonderful holiday.
The staff is very friendly und the restaurants are super good.
Restaurant "La Stega" has a wonderful atmosphere and nice food. In the main restaurant, you can have fresh pasta, made in front of you. Try "fusili with scampi", absolutly tasty.

The renovetion of the rooms, lobby and swimmingpool is very very nicely done.

You start the day by a great breakfast and take the skibus in front of the hotel, which brings you within 5 Minutes to the mountain station of Regina Titlis, witch brings you to the top of the mountain - there you can go for skiing or walking or just take a look at the mountains and relax in the sun.
You also can find a very nice skischool for the children there. The kids are very happy and welcome in the hotel, espaccially because they have big family rooms.

If you want to rent your ski, you can partisipate on 10% discount for the ramada hotel, at one of the local sportsshops.

In the afternoon we went to the sauna, steambath and swimmingpool (bathrobe you find in the room), wich has a relaxing atmosphere & nice & clean and you get clean towels there.
You also can find a beauty center there.

The big surprise was the Sylvester party - "Moulon Rouge", with original french food, and band and dancing floor. You could choose between menue and buffet. Both was made by very high quality.
On the dessert buffet around elfen o`clock, they presented a two meter high Eifeltower iceskulputur!! After midnight the firework was the topping of the evening.

We think the Ramada Hotel Regina Titlis is a place I can highly recomend, and you will find everything you need for a fantastic holiday!! Best place to stay in Engelberg.

Room Tip: If you travel as a family - partisipate from a family room. Rooms in higher floors have a fantast...
