Our family of four enjoyed a superb week at Christmas in the Alphaven Apartment C; the floor-to-ceiling glass framed Mt. Titlis and surrounding mountains perfectly. The apartment owners reside upstairs and are on hand to answer questions and offer advice. There are too many positives to mention them all, e.g. the living space accommodates four nicely without crowding, the kitchen allows some self-catering if the view keeps you wanting to enjoy your vacation from inside, and the sauna hits the spot after a day in the cold. Engelberg's centrally located for easy day trips to Chur, Ticino, Zurich, etc.
We're a discerning family, having stayed in vacation rentals in a dozen or more countries. Alphaven ranks among our favorites.

I hate going to commercial over crowded places. After Zurich, Engelberg was all I needed and Alphaven was an answer to my prayers. Perfect place to complete your holiday experience. Sit in the balcony and enjoy the view and when it gets cold, sit cozy inside the apartment and you can still soak in the authentic Engelberg experience.
John has done up the place very thoughtfully. At the end of a long day, Sauna is all you need and you can sit pretty in beautiful rooms and read to sleep. He was very patient and answered the zillion questions I had. Very helpful and since I was travelling with a couple of 60 years old, he helped us with the luggage.
The best part that stayed with me was John enthusiasm when he showed us the entire place and when we could find a moment to soak in the beauty, he smiled with "Welcome to Heaven" and that in fact, is the perfect way to describe this place.
I know for sure that I will go back to Engelberg and Alphaven. I think you should do.

Wonderful place, wonderful city, wonderful stay.
First time in Europe with very happy memories.
Not much more to say.
Perfect
Fully furnished with all the necessary equipment. Only disadvantage - its on 3rd level with no elevators and could be highly unsuitable for people with heavy bags and/or disability. John & Ursula are good host and have been helpful with their suggestions. Just one caution; if you are planning to stay in this apartment for more days, than its essential to have a car with you for local travel. Its at much higher level compared to town centre and without car commuting would be physically challenging

What can you say other than heaven, if there is a more scenic place on earth I haven't seen it. The view's changed every 5 minutes clear then the most came then no view absolutely spectacular. The apartment has under floor heating 6 bed's all furnished to a very high standard. This was a luxury luxury 2 night stop that was worth every penny.
We arrived in terrible rain, this can happen in August in the mountains. Switzerland is really different from the European Union (coming from France): no mega-supermarkets but still small businesses; remarkably many senior citizens in the streets: walking but also eating and chatting and a 50's atmosphere of hiking and small alpine huts.
This we mainly discovered after the weather became clearer and we could go out. This is of course a vulnerable point in a 1 week stay: 2-3 days of rain really make you wonder when this will improve. But it did. And in the meantime we had a lovely day in Luzern and around Lake Lucerne and we visited Einsiedeln, a beautiful well kept church in a somewhat small town, actually a bit far away. And once the weather became very nice, we finally saw and admired the highly praised view. On the whole: our expectations were very high after having read the website, and then the rain was a real downer. But the Swiss experience as a whole was definitively worth it, as was the great help from Candy, Ursula and John, Thx !
