“Don't be fooled by appearances”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

We chose this restaurant due to its location by the river. The head waiter appeared welcoming and the menu looked innovative. Presentation and service at the beginning of our meal was first rate. Unfortunatley, the mesculin salad that accompanied the meal was no way close to being fresh. When a complaint was made to the waitress, it was totally ignored. The excuse was that she did not understand English. After several pointed fingers directed to the bad salad her comment was that she will let them know. After this discussion the waiter totally ignored our table, and when we requested the bill it was like hailing a taxi to get his attention. No explanation or compensation was given regarding the rotten salad. I do not recommend this restaurant as most other eateries would at least make some apology. First impressions can be deceiving.. We paid 110.50 swiss francs for lunch. Surely for that price we should have received better service and a more outstanding meal.

“Nice lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

Been there for lunch today with a friend of mine. Had a table on the terace just near the river. Very nice. We both had a Tuna Tataki, very nice. Service was good and had a great time. Wouldn't go for dinner but lunch is fine.

“A massive let-down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2012

We went to L’Arthur’s last Saturday to celebrate my wife’s Birthday and couldn’t have been more disappointed.
The setting is wonderful, right on the edge of the River Rhone with Lake Geneva in the background but that’s all this restaurant has to offer.
We’ve been lucky enough to have dined in some fabulous restaurants around the world and L’Arthur’s is certainly up there price wise but their service is abysmal and the food, whilst good, is totally over-priced for what you receive.
On arrival we told them we had a reservation but were shown to an un-laid table (despite there being plenty of laid tables). After waiting half an hour we finally had to ask for the menus. We asked for a bottle of rose but were told they hadn’t got any left so we asked for a different bottle of rose only to be told they didn’t have any of that left either!
The restaurant offered us the option of a 50cl carafe of the first wine we ordered as they also sold it in magnums. We ordered 1 additional 10cl glass of the same wine but on receiving the bill, rather than recognising the fact that we’d actually only had 60cl of wine, they charged us more than the cost of the 75cl bottle that we had originally tried to order.
When our meals arrived the main my wife ordered was not the main they brought and when we questioned it the waiter said that that was the dish my wife had pointed at on their menu. We reminded the waiter that we had actually gone with his recommendation of the restaurants’ speciality dishes but he continued to argue with us. My wife accepted the meal as she didn’t want to have to wait further and let my own meal go to waste.
When we received the bill at the end of our meal we thought that the restaurant might have made some form of gesture on the price given the issues we’d had with the service. On the contrary, they charged us for an additional bottle of rose (the second bottle that was unavailable) and we had to argue quite vigorously with the manager to get him to agree to the error.
Overall a very disappointing evening and I couldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

“Pure Indulgence”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012

This Left Bank institution is popular with the financial crowd - no pun intended. To frequent this place regularly you'd certainly need to be making a tidy sum from your investments. Cheap it ain't!! However, as a total homage to feckless spending I'd recommend it to anyone who wants first class dining, expertly mixed cocktails, smooth service and a stunning terrace overlooking the Lake.

There are 4 distinct areas to Arthur's - Bar, Lounge, Restaurant and Terrace all oozing a relaxed opulence with deep chairs & sofa's, warm browns and creams punctuated with steel and glass tables, dark oak and extravagant crystal chandeliers. Crowning this contrapuntal assortment of styles are huge "Warhol-esque" murals of Hollywood stars such Marilyn Monroe and Marlon Brando adorning several walls and not tacky in the least.

The clientele have one thing in common - money - or access to it ! Whether it be the City slickers on a post work drink and wind-down, an obviously rich hobbit-faced sugar daddy with a pulchritudinous companion or a gaggle of "Sex & the City" girls dressed impeccably and on the tease...The food is excellent and of Michelin Star standard from a menu by the renowned chef Alain Senderens. The menu is somewhat eclectic with dishes nodding to all continents but cooked in a French style so Dim Sum rubs shoulders with New Orleans duck and Smoked Salmon.

The drinks menu will never earn the accolade "value for money" with spirits at £10 a shot but it charges what the market will afford. The cocktails are a stand-out though with a near-perfect Mojito the star. Arthur's is not cheap but certainly decandent and memorable and what more do you want for a one-off.

“Worst experience ever in Geneva”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2012

Terrible experience last night : very unpleasant and inefficient staff for average very expensive food.
No blanket on the terrace when it gets chilly after a long wait, very loud music.
Placing an order took ages, staff obviously lacked experience, motivation, education and basic politness.
Extras charged on the bill on no account. We asked for an explanation: mistake was acknowldege but excuses forgotten.
Eventually when we made attempts to obtain a receipt for part of the bill, we were called liars and dishonests...how bad is that ?
