Da Paolo is as essential to Geneva as the Jet d'eau (water fountain), the lake or St Pierre's Cathedral !
It is safe to say that it is an institution here. For over 30 years if not more (but then who is counting...) Da Paolo has been the place "les Genevois" hang out. The food is simple no-nonense italian. The menu varies according to the seasons but you can always rely on the pasta and the delicious pizza that you can also order to take away.
The staff are friendly and quick. Some of the staff have worked over 10 years there which is always a good sign. The decor is practically the same, not really the best feature of Da Paolo but the simple tables and chairs are not the reason why the place is regularly packed with clients. There is a buzz.
The crowds are mixed and range from families with children, to groups of friends, teenagers or young urban professionals. It is the place to see and the place to be seen.
Da Paolo is open 7 days a week, on weekends it is non-stop from noon to midnight. No reservations. First come first served.
When you don't know where to go ? there is always Da Paolo.....
