If you enjoy walking, you will enjoy Geneva - the lake called Leman dominates and the surrounding buildings are just painterly dots scattered along the mountain sides. The Old Cite AND the United Nations are a 30 minute walk apart, and you can wander between them along the lake and strolling through the Botanic Gardens.

Especially enjoyable walking out to the Baths where you can have a meal surrounded by water, and hear people splashing even in the evening.

The reason for the lake having two names is because the lake in partly in Switzerland and partly in France.
At the Geneva end of the lake, an area has been provided in order to swim in the clear fresh waters of the lake safely. There are lifeguards, changing rooms, diving platforms, shaded areas and other, climb on structures in the water to provide a great experience. This was the first time that I have ever swum with Swans. The swans do not fear us at all and will come and sit right next to you on the stone beach area or swim within a metre of you when in the water.
I highly recommend having a swim in this location and costs only 2 francs to enter.

Went with friends to see geneva, my first time and I must say it's really beautiful place...Geneva lake is amazing and water is so clear that u can see the bottom of the lake...another plus point is that it's next to town centre and transport hub...best for walk, taking boat tours and dinning...overall best

Lake Geneva is Beautiful!!!!!

The best views are between Vevey and Montreaux due to the steepness and descent of the mountains and hills.

Geneva is a must-visit, as is Vevey and Montreaux. We stayed in Lutry which is a lovely town to stay in as its quiet, has cheaper (but still luxurious) hotels than in Lausanne and Geneva and Montreaux!!

Hire a car and travel at your own pace and pleasure... we did that and loved all the views we saw along the way. We didn't get time to visit the South side of the lake unfortunately as we were there only for a few days.

A boat ride on Geneva is a must also. They range from 1 hour to a few hours.

A beautiful lake, breathtaking and so clean. The mountains framing it are stunning. Extra bonus, get a travel card, free from your hotel and travel across it for free.
