Hotel Jade - Manotel Geneva
Ranked #35 of 106 Hotels in Geneva
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 6, 2011

Although marked as a three-star hotel, the Jade's rooms compare favorably to other four-star hotels in Geneva. They are large, quiet, tastefully furnished, and well-equipped. The rooms are well laid out for working. Wi-fi is free, reliable, and available for multiple devices.

Services at the Jade are limited, however. There is no restaurant on premises (although there are many in the area) and no room service. The breakfast facilities on the main floor are pleasant (although I could have lived without the piped-in mood music). The breakfast itself is not lavish, although there is a reasonable selection of cured meats and cereals and the pastries are tasty.

This is a very good hotel for business; may be less so for leisure travelers.

The hotel is close to the tram station (1 minute walk) and to the train station (Gare de Cornavin) and Rue de Mont Blanc(15 minutes walk and 3 min by tram) and close to the lake (5 minutes walk).

Geneva is expensive. When I visited Geneva the Swiss Franc was very expensive too. The nightly rate was expensive for a 4 stars hotel, not centrally located.

Room was large and quite. I liked the lighting and comfy bed. I also liked the bathroom and the powerful shower, however I didn't give a full mark because my bathtub was partially clogged and my complaint didn't fix the problem. The room has large full windows, but the hotel does not overlook anything interesting. Nonetheless, in a sunny day it is really nice.

The free broad band internet is excellent.

We were upgtaded to a junior suite on the top floor. It had a large sitting area and a mini-kitchen along with more than ample storage. There was also a large deck outside a wall.of windows so it made the room quite light The room was clean, airy and modern and the bed comfy.A Netspresso machine was a nice add and the breakfast quite adequate, if unspectacular.

Geneva is blow your mind expensive, and this hotel is a real value. The neighborhood is a working class one, but still reasonably close to the old town (a 15 minute walk) and very convenient to the train station. It is part of a group of hotels/restaurants and we tried one of the restaurants but would not go back t that restaurant- mediocre except for the entertainment from the nearby table where an english-speaking executive was holding court with his minions and pontificating hyperboloc nonsense. Both my wife and I are CEOs and we were suppressing hysterics. But I digress.

The only negative was that the elevator does not go to the top floor so you have to lug your stuff up a flight of stairs if your room is there. The staff were not the warmest of folks either, but they got the job done. We would go back if we return to Geneva (we love Switzerland, but Geneva not so much).

Room Tip: Don't get a top floor room if you can't carry bags up a flight of stairs.

Jade Hotel is a small, calm and peaceful hotel close to the main railway station, and the restaurants and street life of the Pacquis area. It proved a great place to stay whilst at a conference - offering a quiet place to work, a very comfortable bed and a good breakfast. The garden is delightful - and my only criticism is that there is no bar and no coffee or tea service in the garden, which means that it isn't really used properly. If you are looking for somewhere comfortable and quiet to stay, Jade Hotel is an excellent choice. Room service is delivered from the sister hotel across the road, and is good too.

Having done a bit of research (on Tripadvisor and elsewhere) before travelling, I am really happy to have chosen this hotel. Situated within easy walking distance of the lake, the main station and principal shopping area, it is an excellent small hotel that deserves more than its 3 star rating. If you don't want to eat breakfast in the hotel there are several cafes nearby (So Mel on the Rue de Lausanne is especially good), but the hotel breakfast is good too and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Having free access to a computer in the lobby is very useful and the garden area to the rear is a great place to sit and rest after a hard day's sightseeing. For those travelling with children there's a good playpark at Parc Chateaubriand - bring your table tennis equipment!

A lovely small hotel in the centre of Geneva. Close to the main station, so easy to get to and from the airport. Within walking distance to the Hotel. Within walking distance to the main tourist attractions and near a Tram stop and bus stop to get to the other attractions.

The hotel is classed as a 3* but very good quality. Rooms are a good size, the bathroom is gorgeous, the breakfast is good as we were able to get it for half price. Good selection of breakfast choices.

We had booked a room through Booking.com which we thought was for a good price, but a few days before we were to travel we checked the Hotel website and they had a better deal. The hotel were good in being able to sort out us the cheaper deal.

A tip- we went over the easter weekend. A lot of places are shut over the Easter period so some of the restaurants, shops etc are not open. But there were still enough places that were open.

Very nice hotel. Spacious rooms (we had the suite, an upgrade) and good beds and shower. Your own Nespresso machine in the room. Is nice.
