In this museum you can see, how swiss people are good at tourism. The archaeological site is nice, but nothing special in comparison with other archaeological sites(that I've worked on - although I am not an archaeologist, I sometimes help on a. sites as my hobby). You learn about history of geneva and stuff, but what you see are mostly walls and rocks. There are some models and visualisations, but it gets a bit boring after some time. No golden treasure, no bronze, silver, not even ceramic treasure. Nothing special. In some other countriess there would be just a little table saying this is something historical, but here they built a whole museum around it and that is amazing for me. So I would rate the a. site as average, but the museum as a whole, the e-guides, visualizations, documentaries they show you, ... as amazing. They know how to make museums.

This was a very interesting visit. The site was well laid out, and since it was not too busy, it was easy to have a relaxed wander around the site.

A must for a complete understanding of the foundations of the city. The site is small but the many layers of excavations which were uncovered, and a very interesting movie about the works of many years make it important and worthwhile to visit.

Yes, the church is nice but in Europe you will see many like this. What is unique about this church is the views of the city from the tower. I absolutely recommend spending 5 Euros to go up the tower. Also if you want to get the best view of Jet d'Eau. go to the North Tower and view the fountain from the SECOND level balcony. Best view of the lake and the fountain.

I am not interested in spending my vacations in museums. So, it turns out that the only museums I have visited in Europe are archeology museums. During a layover for a train to France, we walked to this site and spent about an hour wandering in the tour. It was very eye-opening and cool to learn about the origins of Geneva as you look at the remains. A user-controlled audio guide helped gauge how long we wanted to spend at each station. Audio-visual shows were very detailed and interesting. What I especially liked was how accessible this site was during a very short visit.
