Owner description: This 60-foot stone wall was built in 1909 to commemorate Geneva's vital role in the Protestant Reformation.
Reviewed June 28, 2013

The wall is one of Geneva's best-known tourist sites with large sculptures of John Calvin, John Knox, and two lesser known patrons of the Reformation. What made for a delicious irony on my walk by these solemn legends of stone was a group of about 10 20-somethings - complete with piercings, hair dyed in colors not found in nature, dogs, and cigarettes - dancing to punk rock and rap played on a portable boom box. Can only imagine what the illustrious church fathers behind them were thinking!

Particularly for those who share the Protestant heritage, this is a special icon. For all others, it's an important landmark in the development of modern Western culture.

Great monument, really large, with beautiful sculptures and inscriptions. It definitely helps if you know a little about the reform leaders portrayed in this wall.

The Reformation Wall is in Parc des Bastions, a beautiful city park to wander and relax. The wall is stunning to visit, the craftsmanship of the sculptures are wonderful to view up close. I am very pleased that I had the opportunity to view.
