We enjoyed this beautiful church...it was beautiful inside and one of the first things we did while in Geneva. We also visited the museum downstairs which was also very interesting.

Visiting historic cathedrals is always enjoyable for me, and the Cathedrale de St. Pierre, was a rewarding part of our visit to Geneva. Walking through the old neighborhood of narrow, hilly streets with cafes tucked in corners set the mood for exploring the cathedral. The exterior is less ornate than some might expect, but the interior architecture is soaring and the paintings are beautiful, as are the stained glass windows. The cathedral has undergone many changes over the centuries, including the Chapel of the Maccabees, which is beautiful. You can pay to climb the tower. We didn't do this because of the heat, but it reportedly has a beautiful view of the city.

This building tells an important part of religious history in the last 500 years with some huge names in the Protestant and Calvinist movements. In addition wonderful archeology under the building. Great area for museums and restaurants too

Architecturally impressive interiors and a very well priced tower visit make this a must visit. You can see all across Geneva from the tower and walk up to the tower is very narrow and works on a traffic light system, so be prepared to be patient when going up and down the stairs.

Large ceiling with arches. Plenty of ceiling paintings and statues. The church still holds regular masses.
