“Good, but usually crowded.”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

I was told about Boreal about two years ago, and I have to admit that it's probably one of the best coffee places I've been to in Geneva for the price and selection. Their baked goods are above average quality, but not something I ever crave, if I have to be honest. The drinks are another matter. Very frequently, I find myself craving one of their white hot chocolates or one of their lattes. The only issue I have with this place is that it's a bit small, and because they offer free wifi, you get people sitting there for hours on their laptops, taking up three spots at a table with their bags and books. It's not a problem in the summer when they have the tables set up outside, or you have the option of walking around on a sunny day, but it's a bit annoying in the winter or if it's raining.

“Best Coffee Shop in Geneva”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

This is a cozy, lively café with great coffees & teas. Great selection of Kusmi teas. Don't find their desserts as good as some spots in Geneva but atmosphere and drinks make up for it. Staff is bit snooty. Lots of internationals, almost all expats here but it's a great spot to hang-out, very cozy and they don't mind you staying a long time to work away. A lot of people work here although it has become so popular now that it is really too loud to get any real work done, often hard to find a seat. Nice light, airy space.

“Boreal what has happened to your espresso? :(”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

I am a big Cafe Boreal fan. But their espresso is just not good anymore.

The last few times I have ordered a regular espresso I have been really disappointed, as it has been really quite terrible (and not cheap, which is kind of ok if the coffee is really good, but if it's not, then it's just annoying).

This morning's espresso at their Paquis/ Cornavin location was acid and tasted like concentrated cicory coffee.

I am still a huge fan of their Matcha soya lattes which are absolutely delicious, as are cappuccino and other drinks. Black coffee and espressos used to be good too, but sadly recently have not been. That said, I have not tried the "special blends".

Drinks are great, but bring back the good basic black coffe!!

“Fantastic coffee, great food”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

It's always good to find the reviews of a coffee shop meeting my definition of what a good coffee is supposed to be like. These guys really know how to put together a flat white, as good as or better than any I've had in some of the best coffee shops in London or NZ. The muffins and macadamia brownie were moist and delicious!

“Superb Shilico”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

My son and I dropped in on the Boreal Bar/Takeaway on Rue de Mont Blanc. Standard blend coffee was very good; I then bought 2 packs of the Shilico beans which the guy there recommended, he then ground the beans for us on the spot. Wow, got them home and just had first brew...outstanding coffee!
Thanks to the guy at Boreal; great service & superb coffee.
