“Good value for Geneva and a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Whilst not at all 'Modern' - it's more 70's decor, the staff were friendly and helpful and it's a great location, just a few minutes walk from the train station and Lake Geneva. If you want somewhere that includes a nice buffet breakfast, which is advisable as Geneva is very expensive compared to most places, you could certainly do worse. It's clean and safe, but the decor is dated. Bath and Shower which is always good, but the bathroom was small and some people may have found that awkward to negotiate. The City centre location was a little noisy, but that doesn't worry me - I'd sooner be somewhere convenient.

We picked a budget hotel from the list given to us at the Tourist Office near the station. The girl on reception was very helpful indeed & let us put our bikes in the basement. The rooms were small & hot, but a fan was provided. They were clean & adequate for an overnight stay. The breakfast was very good & there was a good guest lounge that we found on the way out. Very central for everything & although it was not new, it was very reasonably priced for an overnight stay.

Contrary to its name, hotel is very old and run-down.

Although room was quite spacious, everything else was below expectations.

Musky smell, bed was hard and uncomfortable, there was little ventilation and no air-conditioner. Just a little portable fan in the wardrobe which I had to place on the bed at night. Toilet light was not working and it was only repaired on my second night.

Reception was mostly busy and not very helpful.

Breakfast buffet was the most terrible I have ever had at any hotel.

Despite being centrally-located and within walking distance to Lake Geneva, many dingy cafes and restaurants plagued the area.

I would not recommend this hotel at all. Extremely disappointing experience.

I reached Geneva late in the night and knowing the hotel did not have a restaurant made sure I bought some food from a nearby Macdonalds. Reception staff were helpful. The lift is very small but functional. The room was not very large but good enough. The bathroom had hot water that was working. It was needed in the cold weather in January. Wifi was free as was a good spread for the complimentary breakfast on the 1st floor.

The location is ideal to move to any part of town with, tram, bus and metro all nearby. Some great restaurants around the hotel. I did not have much time to raom around, but the hotel gives you a pass for the duration of your stay, that allows you to move around the city on bus, tram and metro for free.

Geneva is an expensive city and this was not the cheapest place but you certainly get a neat, clean place to stay that is good value for your money

Room Tip: In case you dont want to use the lift stay close to the breafast room

Advertised as a 3 star hotel but it's more like a 2. It's your pretty much your basic hotel for someone wanting to spend more time out in the city than in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided us with all the maps and travel cards for our entire stay. The location is great, being only 5 min walk from the lake and the train station. I recommend this only if you want a budget hotel in the city and you don't mind where you rest your head. Everything in the hotel is very basic and can be quite noisy at night.

Lets start with the good things :

- Location : less than 5 min walk from the station
- Staff at the Reception : Friendly
- Free Wifi

Bad things:

- It would be difficult to make the room .. more basic. Was as "cold" as a hospital room.
- Room furniture could need some "refreshment". Looks like it was put in place in the 60s.
- Not even going to mention the lack of a safe or air-con.
- Overall impression of the hotel: A run-down, budget hotel ..

Now something that totally ruined my night:

- I don't mind if a room is being refurbished (i.e. re-painted).. but to let customers check in when there's a heavy smell of room paint is totally unacceptable(!!!). The reception confirmed that the 4th floor had been repainted and their only suggestion was: Please keep the window open (?!?).

Room Tip: Don't worry about the rooms.. look for another hotel first.

Stayed 2 nights here at Easter. The hotel is very tired unless your into original 70s furniture and bathrooms. The TV is a classic 30cm square box. The bed is Okay, just, but the pillows are terrible. The location of the hotel is great, close to everything which is what we wanted as it was only a stop over. The free wifi is good and breakfast included is limited to cereals, juice, awfull coffee, ham and cheese, really quite basic. They do have a lounge area with a computer that you can use free of charge and print out bording passes etc which is handy. The receptionist was very helpfull and friendly. Cant say much else really...would I stay here again...maybe...but not for more than 2 nights?..its an average hotel in its star bracket
