We didn't actually book a room here but as Hotel Kipling (where we'd stayed at the beginning of our trip two weeks before) was over booked we were offered a free upgrade to this hotel that still had rooms available.
Waiting at reception (which was quite a while whenever we went to reception actually) we could see the room tariffs which suggested the cheapest room was 500 CHF a night and we thought brilliant we're on to a winner. Assuming the room would be amazing compared to other places we had stayed for much less money. The staff were accommodating given the website problem and let us check in despite us arriving before check in time (we were planning on dumping our luggage and wandering aimlessly around Geneva until check in time), the reception lady managed to find a room that was ready and let us go straight up which was nice.
We didn't take them up on the offer of the 30CHF breakfast because I'd expect to eat my own body weight in food for that much money and it was simple cereals and croissants as far as we could tell.
We got to our room and thought, "oh, ok". There was nothing wrong with it at all and I'm sure we were given one of the most standard rooms that hadn't been refurbished considering we were a last minute arrangement and hadn't paid for 4 star. I can't believe anyone would pay 500 CHF a night for a room like that. It was perfectly fine but not near as good as the fantastic room we had in Hotel Kipling, a 3 star hotel across the road where we'd had a balcony and no traffic noise and paid only 115 CHF. For this price I'd stay on one of the swanky looking hotels on the lake if I were you.
It's probably about to be refurbished I expect but I can't imagine anyone has ever paid 500 for that room, or i hope not. It was fine but the bathroom was quite small and old fashioned and the decor a little out of date.
I wouldn't stay here again because it will always be out of our price range but it's a perfectly nice hotel if you can afford it.
