“Loved the Classical feel of this hotel.”
Reviewed January 2, 2007

I booked three days for Mum and myself as part of our annual girls getaway the first weekend of December.

We contacted the hotel directly and agreed a great deal for the weekend which included discounted rates and perks such as fruit basket in our room, breakfast, room upgrade and minibar etc. On arrival the hotel was impressive, with beautiful green canopies outside, impeccably dressed staff with perfect language skills and an air of class and elegance.

The lift was a little small and we made two trips - only one person and suitcase can fit comfortably in.

The room was very clean and perfectly turned with a wonderful fruit basket and chocolates awaiting us. Room service was unobtrusive and regular with beautiful clean robes and towels. I had done a great deal of research to find this hotel and it met my expectations at a competitive price for the area.

Undoubtedly the highlight of our stay was the fabulous food served in the hotels own restaurant; I have never tasted such wonderful salt cooked steak and the recommended wines were a perfect compliment - the restaurant is a little pricey although not unexpected as the menu and price guide are available on the website. The desert menu was equally fabulous and I was quite happy to pay the bill for such wonderful food in beautiful surroundings.

Breakfast was inclusive; an extensive continental selection and the option (still inclusive) for cooked breakfast. All the food was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere was busy but not rushed. Breakfast is served later on weekends if you prefer a lie-in.

On the second day of our stay, we took a trip across the Franco Swiss border to the Alps - well worth doing - the concierge can arrange this for you via Keytours.
On our drop-off at the bus station our taxi failed to arrive and on a busy Saturday evening it was not easy to find another. However we called the hotel and they solved the problem for us, a car arrived a few minutes later. All in, I cannot praise this hotel enough; it was a jewel in an otherwise indifferent city and made our trip.

P.S. When visiting Geneva, don't miss the old town - take a little train trip if you don't want to walk up the hill!

  • Liked — The Food was Fabulous and the atmosphere was wonderful
  • Disliked — Not easy to get a sense of location
  • Tips/Secrets — Contact the hotel direct to try and agree a package deal for long weekends.

Our review may be slightly biased as we were upgraded (by surprise) to the premium suite in the hotel as our stay was part of our honeymoon. However our experience did seem to replicate that of other travellers' reviews.

The hotel was well located (10 minute stroll from the old town and train station), check in was swift and very polite and our room was excellently appointed. The standard rooms appear to be of a very good standard and size too. The room was immaculate and there was a plentiful supply of toiletries and beauty products.

The bar was very cosy to escape the winter chill and drinks were reasonably priced.

The only minor complaint was of the temperature in the rooms - a bit warm, even when it was -5 outside!

Overall an excellent stay in a romantic boutique hotel.

My fiancee and I stayed at the Tiffany in December 2005 just before Christmas. We had done a fair bit of research first to make sure we picked a place with a good ambiance and a local touch and the Tiffany diffinitely seemed to have both. When we first arrived we took the bus from the Airport to Central and could see on the map that we should get off just after crossing a big bridge ;) . From there it was a short 10 min walk to the hotel. When we turned down the small street where Tiffany is located and saw the hotel with the little restaurant underneath (part of the hotel) and the lights surrounding the hotel we were really excited to get inside, it looked like a christmas postcard! We walked in through the restaurant but later found out that the main entrance is around the corner. The hotel is very french-swiss and in a very beautiful old romantic building. The checkinn was flawless and we were shown to a tiny tiny all glass elevator taking us up through the middle of the hotel, with the stairs twisting around it all the way to the top (4 floors or so). We had a room right under the roof at the topfloor (makes sense :) ). Included in our price was buffet breakfast and a wooden basket filled with fruit that was placed in our room. The room was very nice and relatively spacious. The bathroom was nice and had a tub with plenty of room for candle lights! :) All the cleaning staff wore black french maid uniforms which contributed to the ambiance of the hotel. After getting settled in the room, we went for a walk in the city of Geneve. The city is so clean and so beautiful with the surrounding mountains and Christmas themed shops, expensive jewelers, watchmakers and trams. The old city in particular was very special to walk around in! The buffet breakfast was incredible!! It was by far the best boutique hotel breakfast we'd both ever had! Lot's of fresh bread fillings, pastry, homebaked bread, a massive selection of expensive brand thick chocolate powders. Apparently the restaurant was also very good for dinner - it was always full of life and we heard many locals among the customers - however we never ate there for dinner as we were busy seing the city. The hotel is a short walk from the old city and about 10 mins quick walk from the main shopping shopping st.
A few weeks after returning home we received a letter from the hotel administration thanking us for having stayed at their hotel, a nice little detail. When we get the time to return to Geneve, we'll most certainly go in Christmas time again and surely stay at the Tiffany hotel under the roof again! :) A final note might be that the hotel didn't seem like an easy place to navigate for someone who might be bound to a wheelchair as there are many small steps, narrow hallways and the lift was narrow. However if mobility is not a problem and you're looking for class/romance pick this hotel! :)

  • Liked — The look and ambiance of the hotel, the breakfast
  • Disliked — Could have been slightly closer to main shopping st. but it was a nice, safe 10 mins walk
  • Tips/Secrets — Go in December, we experienced a festival with soldiers dressed in ancient uniforms, cannons, burning wooden sticks etc. all taking place at night in the old city.

Over the last year I have stayed at The Tiffany in Geneva several times both for business and for pleasure and I can warmly recommend it to anyone travelling to Geneva. The rooms I have stayed in came in many different sizes, but all are very comfortable with many nice details and great bedding! They varied from a cosy single to a massive (junior) suite on the top floor which is worth walking up the short flight of stairs after the elevator has taken you to the 4th floor (the friendly staff will look after your bags).
The food in the restaurant alone is a reason to travel to the Tiffany and most of that food is to be found back on the room service menu. During the weekend the elaborate breakfast buffet stays in place until the early afternoon, which makes a welcome change from most other hotels where you will miss breakfast if you allow yourself to relax and sleep late. Only negative thing I can think of is the very ugly peachy color on the walls of the staircase, but I got the impression even that was about to change.

  • Liked — Comfort, food, coziness & the bar.
  • Tips/Secrets — Ask for the room in the attic, on the top floor.

We have just returned home after spending one week at the Tiffany Hotel. This was our second visit this summer and the staff remembered us from our previous visit. We found the hotel very clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the meals we had in the restaurant. The restaurant is also very popular with local people. The hotel is situated in a side street but very convenient for the old town, the shops and the lake and river, all within walking distance. We would not want to stay anywhere else in Geneva.
