Description: The cellar restaurant Valaisanne & Chalet Switzerland, Dumoulin family owned since 1960, is located in the heart of the city of Geneva, surrounded by the Victoria Hall, the Grand Theatre, the Music Conservatory, the Bastions Park and its monument Reformation. This has the distinction of offering typical and 4 different settings: Swiss Chalet, Brasserie, Swiss Village and Carnotzet. Added to this is during the summer, the terrace shaded by plane trees. So every customer does not feel squashed in the middle of the large crowd. The high flow ensures the best quality and freshness of the dishes served. Swiss wines are honored and come, mostly French-speaking cantons. La Cave Valais is known for its many types of fondue and raclette especially raw milk. What is less known is that the card is one of the most varied and provided our beloved Geneva basin. Although logically say typical specialties take center stage, there remains many specialties and bar meals made the reputation of the institution (sauerkraut zürcher geschnetzeltes home with rosti, etc ...) . Not to mention that the two dishes of the day are served at lunchtime are renewed every day and served with a green salad or homemade soup (your choice). Through our various salads into our pasta dishes, menus or stopping on our perch fillets, the supply is diversity in appointments and everything is cooked by a skilled team.

Classical Valais food you would find in any ski station. Except that it's in the middle of Geneva. The restaurant is nice and spacious. Great tourist experience.

This place is the ONLY place in the neighborhood open past 11pm for food and drinks.
Just order the delicious Weissbier on tap and order something safe.
We opted for ham and cheese plates.
We stayed until 1:30am on a Thursday night, and had fun.
Good for that. Not for "real" eating.

Rushed bad service. Server rushed our order and then got our order wrong. Food was average - greasy and too salty. Not impressed with any of it.

We were continuously bothered to order quickly while trying to interpret menu options to a non French speaker in our group. We ordered and the server still managed to get our order wrong. The pasta was extremely salty and the Zurich veal chop was bland Rosti was overcooked ans too greasy. Pomme frite were good but that is about all they can manage.

We wanted fondue and nothing else was open on a Sunday evening (and yes, we're tourists). The inside was decorated like a Swiss chalet, which was cute, but we spent over 2 hours here when it really didn't need to take that long. First, we had some questions about the menu but our waiter didn't speak English, so he went to get someone else. We waited. We finally decided to order in French but couldn't get anyone's attention, so we continued to wait. Once someone came to take our order, we waited for our first course. My husband got his salad but mine never came. Then our waiter lit our fondue warmer, which made me think our food was about to arrive--but we still had to wait. I was so hungry and still waiting for my salad. Finally, we got our fondue, and I asked for my salad, and got it. It didn't take us long to eat but then we waited for someone to clear our dishes and bring my husband the sorbet that came with his meal. Then we asked for the check and waited for that. Then we couldn't figure out if we paid our server or if we had to get up and pay, so we waited for someone to take our credit card. Meanwhile, people around us were getting served quickly and leaving. I would give this place fewer stars, but the food was good, and I don't think anyone was intentionally slighting us. Our waiter was polite but very busy and something, somehow, just got lost in translation.
