I have been popping in here for years and not a lot changes because it has old world "Cafe" charm all year round.
You can stay as long as you like on the patio/sidewalk tables, people watching along the lakeside. You have a great view of the Jet D'eau, when it is thundering thousands of gallons an hour high into the sky, a must to see in Geneva. This is not a gastronomique paradise, but the food is fine and fairly simple. The prices are fair considering where you are and the views. I would estimate the Rent/Rates for this place are as high as the fountain - scary. The coffee is great, the service very warm and friendly.
Some may think me biased, but I am not! However I can say it is one of my favourite places to while away an hour or two in THE WORLD.

We were staying in Lyon and decided to head to Geneva for an ice cream next to Lac Leman. Those who have the same idea need to know that the highway is very beautiful from Lyon, but there is probably construction going on slowing down traffic. There is a fee for the highway on the French side, and the swiss border office makes you buy a "vignette" because you are on the swiss highway ($45). The view is very un-swiss when getting inside Geneva but a few blocks from the Lac Leman, it becomes ritzy. The city of Geneva has free Wifi everywhere but the connection is random...

The Amiral has authentic world class italian gelato ice cream for take-out or eating right there. The Amaretto was to die for. Real milk, real cream, real fruit. The cafe is right across the street from the Lac Leman with a huge water-shoot inside the lac. There is another cafe right on the water but it doesn't have the same ice-creams! The cafe is a bit shabby showing signs of old age, but the ice cream is worth a trip. The cafe does not accept credit cards for less than 20 or so swiss francs and our ice cream and a coffee was not reaching that. They do take Euros but give the change back in Swiss Francs. If you mind leaving 5 or 6 euros of tip for 12 euros of ice cream and coffee, eat more than 20 swiss francs or have swiss francs with you! Parking was possible on the side street but a bit tricky because of the swiss change to pay for it.
