“white wine fiasco”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2014

We liked this restaurant. Nice interior design, chairs could be a bit more comfy. Staff pleasant and professional, a bit too busy at times. Prices are rather high, but food is inventive and tasty. For me the biggest downside is that er ordered a botle of white wine of CHF 70, and that they do not have any wine coolers! When we asked, the excuse was: but the wine is very cold. This we cannot take seriously. So food is worth it, great rhubarb crumble, but do not order a bottle of white wine...

“Fab food in stylish surroundings AND great service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2014

We went using a BuyClub voucher and we were so impressed the group of us said we would definitely return and pay the regular price. I had an entree of salad which was tasty, different and not overly drenched in dressing. One of us had beef tartare- apparently the best they had tasted for years.
The service was attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being overly familiar and the style overall was contemporary but not stark.
We will be back!

“Very cosy, good food, relaxed atmosphere, good wine”

Unusual and cosy setting, in the old town of Geneva. Some dishes that you will not see everywhere. Good selection of wine, friendly and attentive service.

“Time out for a perfect meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

La Table du 9 on the rue Verdaine, just down the hill from Place du Bourg-de-Four in Geneva’s Old Town and could not be more central and is the place to go if you're in the area.
It has several levels in a cozy and crazy layout - bar downstairs, large dining room upstairs and some sort of loft area up narrow stairs above the bar. The tables are rustic, paired with traditional cafe chairs, and the overall effect should seem more casual than it does. All in all, the restaurant is cool and laid back and slightly romantic.
The service was naturally friendly and smiling throughout the evening. But the food! Vegetarians would like this restaurant because it offers many choices and the veggies are really fresh. In fact, I would say the menu offers something delicious for everyone.

The Amuse Bouche was a tiny perfect bruschetta of smoked duck with tapenade and pesto that looked quite easy to make and was simply perfect. The starters were all tempting - flaky pastry with delicately sautéed vegetables, lentil tabbouleh, fois gras, vegetable ravioli or mushroom omelette. Great choices!
As a Main course, I chose the panzerotti which was excellent and very filling, but the two different fish dishes ordered by my friends were so much better. Topped off with a very good rhubarb crumble.
The price - 5 people, three bottles of good wine, all having starters and main and desert came to about 100CHF per person. Considering that it was an excellent meal, it is well worth the price.
Would I return? Again and again, just to work my way through the menu. Full marks for the chef, the wine, the service, the location, the ambience.

“Fantastic food and very pleasant service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

We also came here on a BuyClub voucher and were more than pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is in a central location, nicely right by the old town. The service was attentive and very considerate. The starters were super tasty and portions were massive! I also (like the last review) had the smoked salmon galette, which was generous in size and salmon and my husband had the foie gras, which he said was very good. For the main we had the vol au vent with veal sweetbreads and the duck shepherds pie - both incredibly full of flavour and generous again. By the dessert, we were both stuffed but had to find an extra stomach because the apple and cinnamon pie was fabulous (and I don't usually like dessert). All in all, a beautiful 3-course meal. Pricey if you don't have the discounts, but worth going to if there is an occasion - hard to find a restaurant that is 'worth it' in terms of flavoursome, large portions!
