Now a protected Unesco world heritage sight you can definitely see why! The beautiful traditional buildings have been so well looked after and appear fresh and clean with colourful flowers on all of the windowsills. It's lovely to walk down the main road. Just cross over the plaza out of the main exit of the train station and turn left. Definitely take this route by foot. There's so much to look at you won't realise how far you are walking. You hit the prison tower after about 5 mins, clock tower 10 mins ( just before this on your left is the child catcher fountain!) einsteins museum 15mins and maybe a 25 mins walk to the bear holdings. Theres plenty of museums and markets along the way and all is well signposted. We stopped and had fondue on the main steet but there's plenty of places for food, high street shopping and souvenirs etc. 100% worth a visit.
