Everything - the buildings, fountains, all because of its old history. The cathedral is well worth a visit. The famous bier keller is also great you can go and have a drink and be entertained not far from there is the French church and one of the bridges with a fantastic view. From the old town you can walk under the old arcades housing various shops and leading to the Baeren Graben where the Swiss bears are housed and nice walks along the Aare (river)

We loved walking around the cobblestone streets and going into little shops. We ate at a cafe - I can't even find it on the maps now - and had terrific naan and ice cream, of all things. This is beautiful medieval Switzerland.

From the moment you set your foot there, you can't help but stand in awe. What a magnificent place!!! The history of the city is right there, beside you. It is as you can see the knights and listen to their voices. The old part of the town is so wonderfully blended with the new one, creating the most beatiful city i've been to. It's a pity we haven't planned to stay overnight. We stopped there coming from Geneve, on our way to Interlaken. I definitely want to visit it again, and stay there at least 1 night. Worth visiting 1000% !!!

We loved wandering round the Old Town and checking out the beautiful buildings. Even if it rains you can walk along the covered walkways and be relatively protected. Don't forget to go down into some of the shops under the side walk, they are amazing and must be seen. Ensure you have done a bit of research before visiting so you know what some of the statues are all about.

Prety city and easy to walk around. There is a main tram station located just opposite the train station that can be used for those less mobile. The city shops have beautifully decorated windows as you head towards Barenplatz. The city square has a range of restaurants and you can see the parliament, the clock tower and numerous fountains as you head downhill to the bear park. Be sure to look up the side streets on the left hand side heading downhill to see the Golden Night Clock Tower. All in all a lovely city.
