The Waldhorn may not be smack in the middle of the attractions, but it's not that far away at all. If you don't want to walk the 15-20 mins into the centre (which is actually a delightful walk across one of the bridges looking over the valley and the city), then the reliable number 9 tram will pick you up a few hundred metres from the hotel and drop you off in front of the Zytglogge or the main station within 5 minutes. Up the road from the hotel is a handy Co-Op, and the area (residentual) is pleasant, clean, quiet and safe.
The hotel itself is very nice, just off the main road so I wasn't disturbed at night by any outside noise. The room was a little on the basic side, and it would have been nice to have had a minibar/fridge in the room, but other than that it can't be faulted. Clean, bright, pleasant and considering Swiss hotels are notoriously expensive this one was reasonably priced and I was happy with what I got for my money. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. Really nice stay in a delightful city.

We stayed at Waldhorn for two nights in occasion of the Zibelemaerit holiday. This hotel is pretty no-frills, but features many good aspects. The location is very good, because it’s just 5-10 minutes from downtown – just need to cross the northern bridge on the Aar river. It’s located in a residential area, very quiet, no noise from the streets and no hotel noise.
The room we stayed was small, and the bathrooms was very small; but everything was very clean and in order (great shower jet!). The bed was very comfortable and the room temperature was good. The room we stayed had a wide led tv on the wall, with 40 or more channels. Good choice for breakfast in the morning, with Swiss and international food. The staff was very kind and attentive, a big plus for the hotel. Although located in a very expensive city (and country) the price was quite reasonable.
In a nutshell, we recommend the Waldhorn, and if we will be back if we’ll be in the area again.

I stayed here for 1 night to watch football at the Stade Du Suisse the home of Young Boys Bern. The hotel was a 15minute stroll from the railway station. It was easy to find. Likewise you can take the tram which stops 2 minutes away. The hotel is halfway between the city and the football stadium. It was ideal for me. The staff were so friendly and made me feel so welcome. They were great. The room was excellent too, very modern and had everything I needed. The breakfast was superb. The choice was plentiful. I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it for a visit to the lovelty city of Bern.

I traveled for a week in Switzerland, staying at a variety of hotels. This one was my favorite. The price was good, the staff friendly and helpful, the location very quiet and within walking distance from the old town. Moreover, free use of the computer in the lobby was very much appreciated.

The hotel is located within a 15 minute walk to the city center. There's a tramstop near the hotel, but we never used it. In the weekends you can park for free in the blue lines, which is always a good thing. You pay around 13 euros for the parking garage per day. The rooms are really small, you can't hardly move around. The bathroom really needs an update! All was clean. Breakfast was nothing special. Staff were doing their job, but nothing more. They weren't really helpful and some of them were impatient. There's free internet access in the hotel, as well as a complimentary PC which guests can use. I know Switzerland is expensive, but to pay 105 euro per night for this room was in my opinion too much money.

We stayed at the Waldhorn hotel as we went to Bern for the Gurten Festival. Bern appears to be a very expensive city for hotels and some of the cheap ones looked either horrible or as welcoming as military barracks. The Waldhorn was a very pleasant surprise, slightly out of the very city centre but very well connected to it and to the Gurten Festival with the tramway line 9 which is very frequent. The hotel's staff was very friendly and the room was clean and very quiet. The only downside was the bathroom that looked a bit too eithies old with dark walls so one could wonder whether it is really clean (although it surely was). Generally, a very nice hotel if people only care about a comfy accommodation.

This hotel is probably the cheapest, but not bad at all.
It's a little bit out of the city centre,
but there is train number 9 which runs every 7 minutes, and probably take 10 minutes to the main train station of Berne.
I stayed there for one night only, but it was a very convenient stay.
The room was clean, cozy, a little bit small, but I wouldn't say it was bothering me.
I had an early breakfast, so I was the only one there.
It was a very good breakfast, with many different kind of breads, "Zopf" and other delicious things.
For the points above and being inexpensive, I think that this is the best price you can get!
