We stayed at this Hotel for two nights in July 2014. We had a panorama penthouse which is a spacious room with a private terrace and amazing views of Bern and the surrounding mountains.
You need to switch elevators at the 4th floor to reach the penthouses which are located at the 7th floor. Overall the distance between the reception/entrance and these rooms is quite long but for us that wasn't an issue - might be for someone with a walking disability though.
The penthouse floor comes with a club-lounge which has a wide variety of drinks and a few snacks. The lounge has lounge chairs inside and a big terrace too but we just took what we needed to our own room and had it on the terraces there.
Don't forget to put the "do not disturb" sign on the door, otherwise the cleaning lady will ring your door at 8 something in the morning.
Breakfast is only served until 10 am - we made it but as someone who likes to sleep a bit longer when on holidays setting an alarm clock to have breakfast is a bit of a downer.
Don't expect any goodwill when you ask for a late check-out! They told us it's possible (so the room was not needed) but for 2h (2pm instead of noon) we were asked to pay 50 SFR - which we refused! A room that is not needed for other guests should be at least available for free until the official check-in time! So unless you want to pay extra you need to leave the room by noon. Of course they do offer to keep your luggage until you leave.
Overall our stay was pleasant. The staff is friendly and professional. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. And the location is very convenient - you just need to cross a bridge and you are right in the city center…
