Stayed at this hotel for the first 4 nights of a Collette Tour. The location of the hotel is right in the middle of the city and a few blocks to just about everything you would like to see during a visit to Bern. The room was pretty standard as European hotel rooms go and keep extremely clean. Our room faced the street and even with the open air market across the street, the room was very quiet. The breakfast buffet was good, however on one morning when the breakfast room was full, it took time to get our coffee and some of the items on the buffet was slow in getting replentished. They are attached to another Best Western Hotel which had a very nice and cozy lounge. Didn't use the front desk very much, but when we did, they were very helpful in providing directions, etc. We travelled to Bern from Zurich via the railway and the Bristol was a few minute walk from the train station. Really not impressed with Bern, so I doubt we would ever go back, but if we did, we would probably stay at The Bristol.

Hotel is used by a large amount of tour group. Breakfast is given in a small crowded room.
In comparison to other hotels, there is not enough food selection.
It does not look like 4 star hotel.
However, location is great; right in a heart of old city.

As others have already pointed out: The location can't be beaten! It's a mere two minutes from the main station and another two minutes from the Federal palace (parliament). Other sights only minutes away, too. Staff is very well trained and goes out of their way to assist guests. The rooms are clean and breakfast buffet is nice. Wifi is free.
But: If you book a room for one guest (and don't pay extra attention and a surcharge) you will get a very small bed (1.90m/0.90m). Quite a step down even from queen size - which is definitely the norm in 3/4 star properties. It looks like almost half of the rooms are equipped with such small single beds!

For a short city break the hotel is fine. I question the star rating though but having said that the staff were great and for one night it was adequate. Our room was large and comfortable although it was facing the road which can get noisy if you have the windows open.

Great central location a quick walk from the railway station, just next to the Swiss Federal Parliament building and with multiple public transport options nearby. Absolutely no point bringing a car. Free bikes for hotel guests are a nice touch and you can buy multi-day public transport cards at reception.

My room faced away from the road and was blissfully quiet, even with the window open for fresh air. Comfortable bed with good quality bedding but fairly limited storage in the room. For a really quite expensive business hotel, the least they could do is supply some proper suit-hangers. Small shower-only bathroom but shower was a good one. Tasteful lighting, good choice of satellite TV channels (though only CNN and BBC World in English).

You're supplied with a WiFi code card on check-in, one card for each device. Having to enter the long username and code every time you power up soon becomes irritating; there must be a simpler way of offering wireless access.

Decent breakfast selection, with proper espresso available on request at no extra charge.

The hotel should really get a native English-speaker to proofread its website.

3/5 rating reflects the high price for an OK but fairly average stay.

Room Tip: Bern isn't a noisy city at night but go for a room at the back for a really quiet sleep.

We, family of 4, stayed at Bristol Hotel for 3 nights in March 2013. We had a family room with a extra bed for my 7 year old son. The room was neat and well appointed including tea and coffee making facilities. But the room was on the smaller side especially with an extra bed, it was slightly congested.

The location of the hotel is the highlight, as mentioned in all the reviews. If you take the right exit from the Ben Hauptbahnhoff, you are just 2 mins away from the hotel. You need to follow the directions to the "city" from the platform and come up the escalator near the Migros Take away, which will be on your right. You will come up next to the tram stop and the Loebbe shopping centre. Just take the left in front of the shopping centre and you will see the Best Western Flag.

The hotel provides free wifi and breakfast is also included. The break fast is basic with cold cuts, break, boiled egg, fruits and juices. You can have the drink of your choice from the Baren Bar, their sister hotel, as a welcome drink.

The bed is comfortable and you have a work desk and chair. We had a road facing room, but did not have any issue with outside noise.

The Hotel is in a nice shopping area and also close to the Parliament building.

I stayed in this hotel for about 6 weeks for a business trip.

Room: Room is small but like any other Swiss hotel. Has a good desk and chair for working. Bed is comfortable. The only problem is that you can hear noises from adjacent rooms or stairs or even from outside. Not good for a light sleeper.
Bath: Bath is very small compared to other hotels of this cost. No tub and no quality shampoo or wash not that I use.
Breakfast: IT is quite good. U will have almost everything with breads, fruits, yogurt, cereal, juice and coffee.
Staff: Staff is very friendly. Onetime when the heater didnt work, the guy fixed it immediately.
Perks: 2 cycles are available for free for the entire hotel. Wifi has very good reception and free.
Location: This is the best part. U have very good restaurants around and 3 min walk to the main station.
Though it was a comfortable stay, I didnt want to go back to the hotel as a stay of 5 weeks will turn out to be boring and not so pleasant in this hotel. Also I had this bad experience. When I was checking out, the receptionist asked me to return converter which I have not taken. They did not maintain records properly and it was probably the person who stayed before me. I didnt pay for it but I didn't like it when I was asked to return something I have not taken.

Go to this place for 2 things- location and Staff

Room Tip: Choose a room way into the lobby and above 2nd floor to avoid disturbance.
