“My new local”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

This pub has become my new local hangout since moving to Basel earlier this summer.

It's got a real British pub atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, the beer is good and there's always someone to meet.

“My Homeplace...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

A fantastic Place anytime of the Year. Home to me since a few Years now. Very friendly and helpful Bar Staff. Tasty English Breakfast on a Sunday with a Football Game on the Big Screen. Nice to sit outside in Summer. Ale (Boddingtons, London Pride) and Cider (Magners) from the Cask. Always great Nights with other Regulars.

Great place, Most regulars are quite nice people! Staff is great! Great things are done for St. Andrews, and Burn's night (Free haggis, tatties and neeps), also Beer and British cheese tasting on St. Georges! Bitterballen on (Dutch) Koninginnedag (Or should i put in Koningsdag now? ;-)
I'm a regular myself and to be found there at some days of the week!

“Not only a pub and not only for expats!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Pickwick's in Basel goes far beyond what you'd expect from a gastro pub or expat-style pub, they really involve themselves with their community and their customers.
As well as showing ALL major sporting events - and they have a tech set-up which can show multiple sports on multiple channels - they do decent food which reflects not only Brit-trad style but with a local bent too.
Further, as they know their customers will be critical of their traditional favourites, it's of a great quality and made with care from the finest ingredients. They even do themed nights like haggis, tatties and neeps for Robert Burns' Day. Class.
Tables outside mean you can sit and watch the world go by and since it's in a pedestrian zone there's no traffic to annoy you.
Welcoming and engaged staff and lots of activities throughout the year make this one of the best places in Basel for entertainment.
The final proof: an expat pub that's popular with the locals. What more could you ask?
