“Best in Basel”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

I have stayed in several "5 Star" hotels in Basel. Aside from not having a swimming pool or restaurant for dinner, the St. Gotthard out performs them all in every respect. The family keeps the hotel always up to date. The staff is frendly and informative, The hotel is kept meticulously clean. Outstanding breakfast, free mini bar, free tram passes, and excellent location, add to this outstanding review.

I had a very nice stay in the St.Gotthard, very friendly staff, rooms are clean and comfort is excellent, free drinks in the minibar.
I received a free ticket to enjoy Basel by tram or / and bus and incl. a free ride with the pendelbus nr 50 to the airport, when I left I recieved a bottle of water, a snack and a free coffee/thee to take away.
Just accross the station but I had no problems with that ( no noise at all).
This one is on my list :)

I travel to Basel a lot for work and have tried a few of the hotels in the city. So far this is my favourite one. The rates are good...well, for Basel that is. There is a free mini bar consisting of a variety of soft drinks, a beer and a chocolate bar. The wifi is free and fast and breakfast is included in the rate. The breakfast is actually pretty good too and you don't have to pay extra for scrambled eggs. I have always been able to check in early. The staff are really friendly and helpful. It's a handy location for getting about, as it's right by the station and tram stops. There's also a supermarket a couple of doors down.

On the downside, the pillows are really odd and make a strange crackly sound when you move your head. I always have different pillows and as I stay so often, they are normally already in my room. There is also quite alot of noise from the trains and trams just outside.

Room Tip: Make sure what you are booking isn't one of the single rooms, as they are really tiny.

Pleasant hotel, very helpful staff. Doesn't have a restaurant but an extensive breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. They send you an email which will cover your tram fare from the airport ( it's a very easy run on tram no 50) and give you a mobility pass when you arrive. that covers the whole of your stay. Would definitely recommend.

I always enjoy staying at the St Gotthard. It's friendly and well equipped and well located. The staff treat you very personably. Breakfast is excellent. Not sure what elese I can say, other than this is where I would like to stay each time I come to Basel

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view of beautiful Basel!

I've stayed at the St Gotthard several times whilst in Basel on business. The hotel is ideally situated for getting around being adjacent to the main rail and tram station. The rooms are modern, clean and well furnished; the wi-fi is free and fast (30Mb+) and there is a free minibar with soft drinks. The staff are the main reason I go back, they are efficient and friendly and make me feel very welcome. There is no restaurant or bar but the free breakfast buffet is very good. The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars - with the windows open it can get quite noisy because of the trams.
