I stayed one night at this hotel in August as a solo traveller

First I must say this hotel is very well located, about 5 minutes on foot from the main entrance of the train stations. It's not a very busy area I felt very safe coming back to the hotel on foot around midnight in the middle of the week - a definite plus as a female solo traveller

The room itself was exactly as pictured on their website so no surprises there. It's geared towards functionality but with some really pleasant touches: it's pretty spacious by European standards, decorated in warm tones, and I really liked that there was good cupboard space and a bench to sit on. And it was oh so very quiet at night even though it was located near the elevator, so I had a great night sleep!

My only two (tiny) complaints: I'd rather have the plugs closer to bed (they were too far for me to charge my mobile and use it while relaxing in bed) and there are hardly any amenities in the bathroom - just disposable plastic glasses and one bottle of a liquid soap which doubles as shampoo. The one thing I missed most was tissues

I didn't eat at the hotel at all so I cannot comment on the quality of the food, but they have a bar and some in-room service options around the clock as well as serving breakfast, of course

I only got to talk to staff for check-in and check-out and both times they were smiling and polite and the process was a breeze

It's definitely a cheap hotel by Swiss cities standards and frankly, for that price braket, it's hard to fault. l'll most definitely return whenever I come back to Basel while travelling on a budget and I'd gladly recommend it to anyone I know doing the same

Excellent location and service. Comfortable and spacious rooms . We enjoyed our stay in ibis-Basel. The hotel is 500 mtr from the station and very well connected. The stuff are very helpful. Internet connectivity is also good.

Conveniently located by the station and with a tram stop just outside the door, the Ibis is a reasonably priced hotel for Basel. Not only is there a free bus from the airport to the station, the free tram pass issued by the hotels makes Basel seem very tourist friendly. The staff are helpful and there is free WiFi for all guests. We would have liked a safe in the room. Rooms immaculately clean and there is a left luggage facility. Note all museums etc close in Basel on a Monday!

It is located 700 meters from the Banhof, we found our way from the Banhof to the hotel, by asking the tourist information desk and walked around the train station.

Please note that inside the station there is a convenient Migros supermarket, a small cafe and sandwitch facility, without seatings.

The hotel reception girls were very welcoming and provided us all necessary explanations in clear language and were very helpful and polite. The room, bed and shower were very clean and compact. Breakfast was sold separately and provided good espresso and crunchy bread, as well as many other tasty items.
The hotel provides a free mobility card to travel all over the city by public transportation, for the time of the stay (24 hours). Our cost was lowered due to purchasing the stay a month in advance (no cancelation). We liked the hotel.

Room Tip: If your plans and travel date are finite, you may consider ordering the no cancelation reservation for a lower fee.
