We stayed at Alsagra for the last week on May, and what a fantastic time we had. We have not previously been to rural Italy and found the views, people and area absolutely breathtaking. We were surprised at how untouristy it was, masses of historical places to visit which are not full of tourist menus, and tatty souveniers. A visit to the huge lake with its peaceful beaches was a pleasure, free parking and a lovely scenic drive there and back. Helen and Steve have worked exceedingly hard to think of everything that a family could need on their holiday. Although our children are much older and we left them behind, its just the place I would have loved to have taken them to when younger. Their two lovely young children are willing playmates for all the other young visitors. The weekly pizza making evening was a highlight for me, as was feeding the small flock of goats!
I personally loved the black pool, and felt it blended in really well with the countryside and the relaxed feel of the extensive grounds. Helen and Steve have an enviable lifestyle and it was most enjoyable to be part of it for one week, we would love to come back and explore more of the area. Maybe taking in train excursions, which are apparently easy to do - to Rome, Florence etc.More
