We had a brilliant week - the apartment was really well-equipped and we enjoyed the pool mostly as there was a heat wave! The hosts Steve and Helen were really welcoming and hosted a fantastic pizza making evening and bbq night which were all great family affairs, with the children amusing themselves in the playground! Setting is so peaceful and beautiful.

A fantastic holiday for our little family. Exceptionally spacious, clean and very well equipped accommodation. Welcoming hosts who responded very quickly to any questions we had. Lots of toys in accommodation and play areas on site. Enough to do in the local area to keep us occupied. Oh, and the view is amazing!

We had a fantastic stay at Alsagra. The apartment had breathtaking views over the Umbrian countryside, and it was fully equipped for our 2yr old daughter. Lots of toys, books, games and DVDs plus fantastic outdoor play areas. Helen and Stephen and their lovely 2 children make a real effort to make your stay as pleasant and as stress free as possible when abroad with little ones! There is a lovely pizza making evening which is a great opportunity to meet the other guests and their families. The location is a great base for exploring some of Tuscany and Umbrias pretty towns plus there is a lake nearby with beach like shores. Would highly recommend!

We arrived at Alsagra and was welcomed warmly by Helen, her family and 3 beautiful goats. As soon as we got into the apartment the kids saw all the toys, books and games and we had lost them immediately. A great idea so that we could unpack in peace whilst they were fully entertained. After a quick tea they dashed out to play on the zip wire! Which was an instant hit. We have never stayed anywhere before with so much for the kids to do, literally everything was covered from cots, equipment and tons of toys/games for our kids to keep occupied.
We loved cooking in the apartment as is was so easy with all the equipment there. We recommend Alsagra to everyone with families.

We have stayed at Alsagra for the past 2 years and had a great time. This year we booked the Papaveri apartment. Some of the previous reviews had said the kitchen was not very good so we were a bit nervous but since we had planned simple food we were not too worried. The communication with everything prior to our arrival was great, we felt that we already knew Helen and Steve before we arrived as they had been so attentive to our needs. We arrived late in the evening but that did not seem to be a concern, our arrival meal and shopping was already there which was wonderful.
When we woke up the next morning the views were amazing, the first thing the kids did was dash out to the pool and meet the new guests who were staying.
The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed which was a pleasant surprise given the previous review. (Microwave, cooker, fridge, kettle, coffee maker, hob all there).
The first evening we had a wonderful pizza making evening which was a great way to meet all the other guests and for the children to be able to go out and play. A few day trips later, and we could not get our children away from the play area or the swimming pool. So much for the cultural side of the trip - too much to do at the apartments. We did manage a trip to Florence on the train which was so easy and only 1 1/2 hours away.
Although the apartment was not as big as the other two we found it comfortable (evidently new furniture had been installed) and met all our needs with a family.
We have already enquired for next year as we have found you have to book early to get the weeks that you want. Definitely recommend to any families.

Unfortunately we could not go in the summer holidays so opted for April. The weather was tee shirt weather but not warm enough for the pool. Everything else made up for it. Both children loved the goats and soon made friends with Poppy and Michele, the owners two children. There were two play areas and most of the time my two were outside playing. On the one occasion when it was a b it cool in the evening there were lots of age appropriate toys provided. Helen was available to babysit and I felt very happy leaving the children with her. It was wonderful to have an adult type holiday that suited the children. Next year we will book earlier to get the summer break and we will then be able to sample the Pizza night.

We had a fantastic stay at Alsagra and will certainly be going back there again. Helen and Steve have made a huge effort to make this as child friendly as possible with little details - such as age appropriate toys in the apartments and plastic cutlery and plates for the kids - really enhancing the experience. The two playgrounds are well equipped and well maintained and the pool is lovely. Great views and plenty to see and do in the local area. The highlight for us was the pizza evening where the children made their own pizzas - something that they will be talking about for a very long time. Helen and Steve are very warm and accommodating hosts and their two children were lovely and became great playmates for our girls. Would highly recommend.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
You can have the best of both worlds at Alsagra. Mums and dads can take a deep breath of warm, olive grove-scented air and relax with a glass of local wine as the sun sets with a golden glow over the stunning hill villages of Tuscany. Meanwhile, even young kids can do their own thing, distracted by two fully-equipped play areas and oodles of toys, while being kept safe by child-proof door gates in each apartment and fences around the stunning solar-heated pool.Owners Stephen and Helen live close by with their own two small people, so they know exactly what parents with children in tow need to kick back and enjoy a holiday. It shows in the way in which they have lovingly restored their fabulous traditional Umbrian stone farmhouse, set in two acres of terraced olive groves, gardens and Chestnut and Oak woodlands, with family needs firmly in mind. The house itself sits on hill on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, overlooking the pretty village of San Giovanni Del Pantano and with incredible views towards Assisi, Magione and Perugia. It is divided into three independent self-catering apartments, each with high-beamed wooden ceilings, terracotta tiled flooring and windows staring dreamily out over the valley below. Each apartment has a living area with a comfortable sofa and lounging chairs, a CD/radio system, free WiFi, and central heating for out-of-season visitors. Kitchens have all mod-cons; fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, hob and oven with grill but a warm traditional colour palette and hand-made wooden surfaces give the whole place a wonderful warm Italian rustic feel. No need to worry about privacy either. Once you've had enough socialising with your chilled-out fellow trippers around the pool, you can retire to your secluded private patio, complete with BBQ, chairs and loungers. ... more   less
