Very unique accommodation, great views looking out from the hillside, small but comfortable rooms. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent.

The biggest downside is location is a little out of town. We had a car which made it easy but our friends didn’t seem to have any problems getting cabs. Not a deal breaker but just something to be aware of.

We drove in from Rome and at first we worried that Waze was taking us somewhere completely wrong but through the maze-like little streets we finally made it to this 12 century castle. Truly something out of a fairy tale. The staff were easily one of the nicest we’ve encountered. Our room had a lovely view of the valley of Perugia, as well as the town of Perugia. It was a very clear day when we arrived and the views were breathtaking. Even when it was rainy (which it was two days later) the views were spectacular. Our room was obviously old but really well done. Very charming and cozy. And we also had our own little outdoor area where one could smoke or have some wine when the weather isn’t too cold. The restaurant there offered breakfast and it was really lovely. Local cheeses and local antipasti, organic fruits, fresh juices. The coffee was spectacular, of course. The wait staff was very attentive and courteous. We asked the reception staff if we could find a truffle excursion and even though it was already near the end of the season, they went out of their way to help us find a company that would take us. Alas, it was not to be because my husband and I both got sick.
We cannot wait to go back to this place. It is so very special and we want to see more of it in the near future.

We find ourselves back at Castillo once again. It has become a bolt hole while we renovate our house in the hills nearby. My description is “effortless style”. It is a beautiful building, a converted and renovated castle with wonderfully quirky rooms. Everything is done to make your stay relaxing and the staff are so friendly. It is a “well heeled” place without any attitude, just an elegant focus on making your stay enjoyable.
