The experience was made special because of the flexibility created by traveling off season and the responsiveness of the front desk staff . The double rooms shown to me were all very small and confining(less than 200 sq feet). However the staff was able to upgrade us to a triple (DRAGO) and it was very comfortable. The room is pictured on the web site. The bathroom , was about the size of a small closet, but it did have a stall shower. Anna and the front desk staff were very accommodating and helpful especially on navigating in the dark and creating Google maps which unfortunately don't work well in the curvy countryside.Street signs are placed differently from the States in this area.....exactly opposite.
They even were able to create a dinner for us when the dining room was closed and we had gotten lost trying to find a restaurant in Ponte San Giovanni, the nearest town. I do not recommend trying to find this nearby town for the first time in the dark. The Michelin Restaurant in the Castle has 4 tables in the winter and a typically complex menu. The chef there cooked us a meal that was much simpler and excellent. The larger restaurant tried to cook the same meal the next night , but while okay, was not as good. The breakfasts were fine and even though when traveling in December, one misses the Terrace dining and lovely view from the deck, the lack of crowds and personal attention more than make up for it.

Room Tip: Call and discuss availability and square footage. The web site is also helpful. Remember windows ar...

Dear Celebrationtiger,
I’m really pleased you enjoyed your stay at our castle.
We always try to customize our guest’s experience and we ever hope to find the best solution for all their wishes. Anna with all the staff are always keen on doing their magic!
As far as the room size, the entire castle itself is quite small, almost a jewel-case. During the centuries from a guard- tower it became a private house and then an historic residence. What we’ve done during our restoration was mainly preserve what History committed to us.

The Castello is an amazing venue with suberb staff and an excellent chef. We first visited in 2010 and returned for our wedding iin August 2011 and on both occasions the standards and service were superb.

We were married in Perugia Town Hall and had our reception at the Castello.
I must say Francesco was superb and the staff were all fantastic, we could not fault a thing during the week we stayed at the hotel and the wedding day itself, it was an unforgettable experiance. The food, wine and relaxed nature of the staff, to the assistance with the wedding and even down to the ice cream wedding cake! it was all fantastic and for anyone considering a visit I must recommend the venue.

Additionally the Castello is only a few miles from the rustic and authentic town of Perugia, a beautiful place, with its cathedral and town square offering good food and some relaxed shopping opportunities. The Castello is also perfectly positioned to take advantage of the breathtaking views of Perugia and the surrounding area.

We have some beautiful photos and memories from our stay and can not thank Francesco and his staff enough for making our wedding so special.

We love the Castle. We took a trip in October and fell in love with Italy and the castle. We arrived at the castle late at night. It is up at the top of the moutain. We were very tired and the night manager was very helpful. He ordered us a pizza and drinks since the resurant was closed becasue it was so late. Our room was perfect. We had an amazing view of the moutains. We were also very close to the pool. The room is comfortble but the historic look of the castle has still been preserved. It felt like a fairytale. I think it was my fav place we stayed on our entire Europe trip. We had a great breakfast and ate outside with those amazing views. Stay here and you wont be sorry.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the moutains.

Dear Elizabeth M,
We miss the words to thank you for your wonderful review. It is the best we could expect, to be defined as one of your favourite places.
It is so beautiful that you fell in love with the castle "at first sight", we believe it is something magic for us and for the people visiting us.
We hope you will have the chance to come to Umbria again and stay with us.

An enchanting old castle, restored into a hotel, makes the holiday a memorable experience. The breathtaking view of the hills as one eats breakfast in the restaurant relaxes one's mind, body and soul. A hot steam at the turkish bath followed by a dip in the outdoor pool amongst greenery is a great combination. A delightful meal at the Michelin Star restaurant - 'Il Postale' completes one's stay at the hotel.

It's a review from my visit from last year, August 2010, (since I am new at Trip-A)

This hotel is in one word...WOW!!!. We loved our room, loved the location, loved the castle, the staff was super friendly, everything was A+.
We didn't have dinner at their restaurants, only breakfast (which was good and at their terrace...with the view....WOW!)

There are not a lot of hotels that you come across on your holiday on which you can have no comment....This is one of them.

Although they are not the cheapest ( start at Eur 120,-) I can definetly recommend this to everybody that visits the area...This is so woth your money and you will have no regrets at all if you book this place!!!
I think reviewing this hotel...one year after my visit says it all....SO WORTH IT!

There are few hotels we actually photograph and blog about to our friends and this is one of them. The staff (especially Luca) were very helpful and informative, the location was convenient for visiting Perugia, the castle grounds well maintained and the castle itself had been renovated to exacting standards with quality and attention to detail evident everywhere. We ate dinner at both in-house restaurants and were fortunate to be given the 'table in the kitchen' for our second evening - try to book that!

This castle was GORGEOUS!! Exactly what I was looking for when I decided to surprise my husband for our 7th year anniversary. I only wish we had had more time there because unfortunantly I was sick the whole time (completely unrelated to staying at the castle). So I didn't get to enjoy it as much as usual, but the castle both interior and exterior was STUNNING! We even ate at the charming little restaurant there and even though it was a bit pricey, it was worth it! The views are amazing, even from our room!! We could look out the window and see the hillside of Perugia! The rooms make you feel like you have gone back in time with all the classy modern amenities! We LOVED every bit of it and can't wait to go back some day!

Room Tip: Our room was the one on the lowest level, outer side of the castle and it was perfect with beautiful...

Dear Giorgianni,
what a wonderful words for Castello di Monterone! A big "thank you" for praising the castle so much.
We would like that people coming to the castle feel exactly like this: surprised, relaxed, pleasured (and ehm... healthy...) .
Your words give us the confirmation that sometimes this is possible, and we cannot be but proud of our job.
Your expectation of coming back one day is the same we have: we hope to let you live another experience with us.
