“Good, clean fun!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

We stayed here for a night with our five and two year old, in a triple room with an extra cot. Even with all these beds in, the room was more than comfortable. We chose this hotel because we thought it would be a fun treat for the children, and it was - they thought the chocolate theme was great - there are chocolate 'handprints' on some of the room doors, and molten chocolate pain dripping down some of the walls, as well as more obvious touches like a bath of broken chocolate in the foyer. The theme isn't overwhelming though, and the hotel functions perfectly well whether you like chocolate or not. There is a chocolate fondue at breakfast, and other chocolatey fare, but there are also standard continental breakfast items too. The staff were helpful and pleasant, and gave chocolate bars to the kids, which was a lovely touch. There is a good selection of chocolate themed items to buy - great for holiday gifts.

We were in a car so had no problem with the location - not sure if it was in central Perugia or not, but we walked to a local Pizzeria, so it certainly isn't off the beaten track. We hadn't realised there is a rooftop terrace and swimming pool when we booked, so this was an added bonus, and the pool is great and very clean.

The room and bathroom itself was spotless - nice selection of goodies and drinks in the mini bar too. The only thing that we found to be a problem was the noise of the air conditioning unit - the heat meant that we needs to keep it on during the night, but it did interfere with our sleep at points - this probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if there we're only two people in the room, and maybe it was so warm because there were four of us in one room.

Whilst it isn't the most luxurious hotel we have ever stayed in, it suited our needs perfectly.

Extremely clean, staff very friendly and food was excellent! We could not get enough of their wonderful breakfast buffet. The pool was on the roof and had beautiful view. Everyone was so nice to my kids-complimentary Nutella and melba toast while I enjoyed my macchiatto and unlimited chocolate at the front desk. Convenient location-bus stop across the hotel to the center of town and a walking distance to the Perugia train terminal.

Definitely / highly recommended!

Decent location for our purposes, which was to see the chocolate factory. Hotel was clean, furniture in room is a bit old, but they are clean and basic small tv. staff was friendly, breakfast was included with the room, but they served way too much chocolate for breakfast. Nice roof deck area. View from room is a parking lot, so not the best, but hey, you can drive around the city and see the sites. if you love chocolate, then its worth the trip. You get little chocolates at checkin!

This is a styled hotel. If you are a choco lover you will like it. On check in you receive chocolate city map, many chocolate colors and chocolate smell around you.
If you don’t like chocolate it is better to choose another hotel. May be wine hotel…
Choco and wine hotels belong to one hotel network.

The hotel was nicely located for our stay. There seems to be a debate on various reviews about the proximity to a bus stop. I stayed there the 3rd week in Oct 2011. The bus pickup to go to town is across the road and a tiny bit to the left. When you get dropped off it is right in front of the door to the hotel. Extremely convenient. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean. The carpeting was a bit worn and in need of replacing The breakfast in the morning was quite a novelty but nice. It wasn't all chocolate as some have stated, but also included ham, juice, etc. Not elaborate but nice. If chocolate was your thing it was great.

I was (I think as a lot of other travelers) intrigued by the name of the hotel, but is wasn't at all that I expected! Rooms are normal but not cozy, furniture is old and worn. Breakfast is very light - no omlette, just one type of cheese and one of prosciutto, no eggs, but a lot of baking and sweets - I read that there is a chocolate fountain!=))))No only one plate of melted chocolate=(
Parking is very small!Be ready that you wouldn't find a single proper space. No restaurants around - only the one in the hotel and the one pizzeria on the street behind (ask the staff how to find it - pizza is very cheap there (about 5 euro) but quite tasty.
Speaking of sightseeing, location is not so good - if you want to go to the city center use the bus, not the car - parking is high priced and hard to find.
Plus - they gave us a chocolate as a welcome gift .

The Etruscan Chocohotel was well designed to match it's concept, which is chocolate. It smells like chocolate throughout the hotel and they give you a welcome chocolate gift. The rooms are extremely clean, the breakfast buffet is very good (and it includes all sorts of chocolate desserts and fudges). In addition, the staff is friendly and and some of them are fluent in English. Furthermore, there is a swimming pool on the top floor. The only problem we had is that we had lunch at the hotel and misunderstood that there were two types of salad buffets (not clear in the menu) and one was much more expensive than the other. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay.
