“World class weaving!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

Marta Cucchia, granddaughter of Guidetta Brozzetti, is continuing a family and Umbrian heritage and also setting the world gold standard for the finest handmade jacquards! Her factory/atelier is stunning, second only to her work. Set in the oldest church in Perugia, this is a treasure to find and well worth the search. She is warm and generous and welcomes visitors personally. This was the highlight of my trip to Italy!

“A wonderful trip back in time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

What a amazing trip back in time! The studio is set in a church built in 1212 and the hand-operated looms that are used to create the gorgeous clothes also take you well back in time. Marta was SO welcoming and generous with her time as she showed us how the looms work and how the Jacquard cards create the beautiful patterns in the cloth.

It was such a treat to get away from the tourist packed sites that are so common in Italy and to instead be introduced to a craft that Marta is keeping alive in Perugia. We were able to purchase several samples of Marta's beautiful products and these will be lovely reminders of the time we spent in this amazing working museum.

If you are anywhere near Perugia, do give Marta a call to see if you too can step back in time to see how an old craft is being kept alive to create beautiful, beautiful cloth! Your visit will sure to be a highlight for you, as it was for my husband and I.
