“This apartment is an amazing find in Perugia”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2011

While planning our recent trip to Perugia, I contacted Hotel Morlacchi and was told that there was no space available. However, the owner offered an apartment just up the street, which is profiled on the hotel's web site. We took the apartment -- which was reasonably priced -- and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy.

The apartment's location is absolutely ideal -- it's steps from the city's main square, which looks like the backdrop for a movie set in 1500. The apartment is cozy, with a full kitchen (which we didn't use) and homey and charming furnishings. Best of all, it's located in a medieval tower, which (we were told) the city's archbishop still uses on occasion.

The owner was wonderful to us. She speaks perfect English and has a friendly and helpful family. We passed a very pleasant half hour chatting with her and another guest -- and learned a lot about Italian literature!

We will certainly stay at this apartment on our next trip to Perugia.

noise is to be expected in a university town so, if you are a light sleeper, make sure you can get a room that doesn't face the road (or bring earplugs). noise carries and if the windows are open (we needed them open to keep the room cool). I heard voices, mopeds starting, etc until way after midnight. also, construction going on right across the street (starts about 7am) and I heard the street sweeper around 6:30am but we get up early so not a huge issue.
our room was small but clean. breakfast was good (great coffee) and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. if you bring a car, it's a difficult one to get to and parking is limited. our biggest complaint was the excessive smell of smoke and that did get into our room a bit. as an asthmatic, this wasn't optimal. because of noise (i'm a light sleeper) and smoke, I probably wouldn't stay there again but might work ok for others as it seems to be good value.

We stayed for one night and we found it to be just want we needed. Located not too far from the main streets of Perugia, Morlacchi had cute and cosy rooms and very friendly staff to help with whatever we needed. Excellent value.

We had a great stay at the Albergo Morlacchi and couldn't be happier. We spent several days and wandered all over Perugia on foot from the hotel (they gave us a map). The entire place has been recently remodeled and the rooms were very nice. The breakfast was available on our schedule and very sufficient. The visits from Jesse (the well behaved family dog) were an added treat. The hotel is located on Piazza Morlacchi which means that the taxi can get you directly to the hotel from the RR station. The family was very helpful in making other trip connections for us and giving local information.

We only stayed one night at the Albergo Morlacchi in Perugia, but wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel was charming, clean, easy to find on foot from the mini metro station, and perfectly located, just around the corner from the main piazza. (Close enough to make a quick walk, far enough that we had none of the street noise from the evening's "stroll"-when the sleepy main square turns into a crowded thoroughfare)

Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful, even helping us to practice our Italian. The Breakfast consisted of bread and brioche, juice, and coffee/tea. I think they offered a more substantial breakfast for a few extra euros though.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Perugia!
