“Location Location Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights in October. We loved the town of Perugia - it was about a 15 euro taxi cab ride from the train station to the hotel - I would not want a car in this central location in the historic core. We booked the most expensive room type and got a sitting room with a small balcony. The sitting room area was not that usable because it was up a step and the chairs were not comfy chairs - I would have rather had a larger balcony (I think it was Room 215). There was a refrigerator, and a safe, but no kettle. This is a more dated hotel. But, in my travels I am all about location - and this had great central location off the best street. Breakfast was fine, we always went late and it was not until the second day that we learned you could ask for a cappuccino and he will make you one - but they didn't offer it to us - so be sure to ask - it was very good. The young ladies at the front desk were very nice. There are also nice public terraces to seek out at the hotel, I wish we had more time to spend on the terraces.

Situated on a pedestrian street, the hotel is quiet -- a must for us! The location is perfect -- near the medieval center of the city where it is easy to walk to any of the five corners of this star-shaped city. We booked one of the most expensive rooms, on the top floor with a balcony and a view. The balcony was as large as our very small room, which is good for a blacony but not so good for a room. The views from the two windows would have been wonderful from the bed if the wooden shutters had a different shape. However, the curved shape of the recessed windows did not allow for the shutters to be opened flat so they blocked some of the view, which was spectacular when standing at the window. Breakfast was served in a large dining room and had an adequate selection of decent quality, but not the best, pastries, fruit, cheeses and eggs. Yogurt was pretty bad -- flavored and sweented and over processed. Coffee was very good if you could communicate what type you wanted. After several breakfasts (we stayed 5 nights), I finally figured out to ask for double espresso and then added hot milk to it myself. Service was friendly and superb. We would stay here again without hesitation. I say this place is not for everyone because the rooms are a bit unconventional and perhaps even getting shabby, though acceptably clean. It's a unique place, not a cookie-cutter chain-type hotel where you get the same wherever you are. This is a renovated old European building -- not modern.

Our visit to Perugia was too short so we will be returning especially to this hotel. It is wonderfully sited, easy to find and convenint for looking round Perugia. The room was beautifully furnished and our breakfast was deliciious. All the staff we met were very helpful and charming, nothing was too much trouble.

We were made to feel so welcome the moment we walked in the door of this beautiful hotel in the medieval part of Perugia. We parked our car down below at a parking lot for the night and just walked everywhere we wanted to go. Lovely for wandering for hours, wonderful piazza with restaurants galore and fun for people-watching. We spent time on the roof-top terrace watching the sun setting over the rooftops, savoring a glass of wine. One of those 'ah-hah' moments.

This hotel is very conveniently located for all the sights of Perugia but more than this it is in one of the old roads that lead to the central square. It is very easy to find from the airport bus (8 euros per person each way) which stops on Piazza d'Italia. The patron is a very affable and helpful man and this is reflected in the attitude of all the staff. Every single member of staff we encountered was extremely helpful and willing. The rooms are charming with beautiful furniture and all the rooms have some degree of remaining frescoes. Our room was large and had a terrace and a few vestiges of decoration from earlier frescoes. Some rooms were magnificent. There is a well-stocked library for guests use, a lovely dining room for breakfast and fresh coffee available from the kitchen as well as from the urn on the sideboard. Good range of continental breakfast available. This is a hotel where you are made to feel at home without the service ever being intrusive. The wifi worked perfectly in our room. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back and quiet but it would have been nice to have a room overlooking the street...

We chose this hotel because of its location. Down a small side street in central Perugia. It was a good choice. Small hotel in a medieval building. Interesting "frescoes"! in the old arched ceiling of the breakfast area, a nice touch. Only stayed 1 night due to flight following day. When we return to Perugia, we will be staying here again.

Car parking is recommended, by the hotel, in multi storey car park down the hill. Hotel accessable by escalators and stairs. Recommend drop suitcases at hotel first, to avoid dragging them a long distance!

Room Tip: Drop suitcases at hotel, before parking car in the car park

This little hotel is in a great location right in the old town in a medieval building, nicely and recently renovated. There is a nice rooftop terrace. Convenient if you are not driving. Close to shops and restaurant. Comfortable bed. Small room, but I was alone, so it was ok. Bathroom with window. Reasonable quality/price ratio. Very nice breakfast. Nice staff.
