We recently stayed for 4 days in the hotel as we had heard so much off. The staff are excellent throughout the hotel. Day one we were given a room which had a locked interconnestion door to the adjoining room. This door was NOT sound proofed as you could hear EVERY move in the adjoining room. This is not acceptable anywhere. We were subsequently moved to another room the next day. The rooms were tastefully decorated and clean , particularly the bathrooms. The hotel carpets particularly on the stairs is badly stained and well passed its sell by date. The dining room is fabolous as is the food and the bill. There are several great restaurants nearby where you wont loose your wallet. Try Ristorante Del Sole, probably the best we have been to. Overnight parking is expensive.

Room Tip: Dont accept a room with an interconnectiog door!

We started our 10 day Italy trip in Perugia (we thought it was a good place to get into the Italian time zone). What a great time! The hotel was perfect for us. We had a balcony & lovely view of the Umbrian hills. The staff at the hotel were terrific! The location was perfect, just enough out of the main part of the medieval city, but still quite close. Breakfast was not included in the price, unlike many Italian hotels. We were able to park our car and walk everywhere. We loved staying here and highly recommend the hotel & location. The building itself is old & beautiful. Though we did not swim, the indoor pool is beautiful w/ glass bottom to see ruins below. The outdoor bar & delicious restaurant was fabulous. Sitting outside in the daytime or evening was great. We cannot say enough good things about our stay, the staff, our room, cleanliness & great service.

Hotel on top of hill overlooking Perugia and Umbrian countryside. Cheaper than Florence, Siena.
Take the escallater from bus station (via Etruscan ruins) to top of hill and hotel is on your right. Two lovely parks to sit in and lots of restaurants, highclass shops. Lots of Etruscan and 15th & 16thC. sites to visit. We had fab. weather. Try Sandri a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch - really cheap(the best in town). Not really touristy place but busy enough. Home to thousands of uni students which made it all the more fun. We flew to Rome and took the bus - would suggest you fly Ryanair as Perugia airport very close and will save you hours of needless travelling!
Buy yourself a book on Umbria - I used Eyewitness Travel.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a view, we had superior double with two balconies.

Large rooms, friendly people in a wonderful old building. When you walk out the door you will be in the middle of the action of this little medioeval jewel. make sure to visit rocca Palina and the national Galleria. From your window you will have a bird's eye view of Umbria. Nice breakfast.

At the end of a wonderful trip through Umbria we decided to spoil ourselves and took a room without booking before.
staff was very helpful and showed us the possibilities.
the room we selected was very agreeable and spacious, with a large and well equipped bathroom.
Only inconvenience was a connecting door which procured some noise ( elevator) and the fact that the window was rather small.

Breakfast was OK for italian standards, but not for the price asked for.Go to a cafeteria next door: coffee is better and the croissants also

Room Tip: do not take room with connecting door or close to elevator
