We ate here in the middle of the week in June 2013. We called ahead for a table at 8pm, but that was clearly early for this place. When we arrived, the staff was still eating, but they were very pleasant. We chose a table on the upstairs alcove and were helped in no time. We started with the daily special antipasta: a creative presentation of a raw egg yolk on creamy goat cheese on a mix of forest asparagus with fava beans. The waiter (whose English was great) helped us choose a bottle of wine. (From their massive wine list) to match our food: we had a delicious tomato and pasta dish, another pasta with wild (super-skinny asparagus), and a second of lightly fried rabbit bites. Desserts (millefoglie with strawberries and a chocolate cake) were also delicious. The atmosphere of the place was just great: it's tucked in a little neighborhood off the tourist path, and the clientele was clearly more local. But the staff was super welcoming and attentive. A definite recommend.

“Perugia central”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

A little tricky to find, but well worth it. A pretty wine bar come restaurant with a buzzy local clientele. The food is interesting and locally-sourced, the service friendly though, as other reviewers comment, a little slow once it gets busy, which it will! Don't think of eating here before 8pm in the evening, and book ahead.

A wonderful selection of wines: the house white, a grecchetto, is excellent, but if you describe what you want and tell them how much you want to spend, they will suggest something, which saves you having to trawl through the lengthy list of (in my ignorance) largely unfamiliar wines.

“This place buzzes”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

Winter night - where to go? Let's pop down to the Civico. You can count on a good feeling of everything buzzing when you step in - any time after 7.30pm- to Civico 25, in Via Della Viola, Perugia. Walk down from Piazza Matteoti, down Via Alessi a short way, verge left into Via Cartolari, keep going down the gentle incline to the corner, go left into Via della Viola. Not far along, on your right, will be an open door with a warm light emanating from it. There may be one or two smokers or conversationalists standing about outside the door- maybe not in this weather!. When you enter, you will be greeted by Alberto or Filipo as they dash about, opening bottles of wine with practised speed, serving food or drinks, talking, writing dockets, collecting money, smiling, chatting... There is tasy food- you can see the busy chefs in a central kitchen- interesting art and artefacts and the young men have good wines to recommend. People of all ages are there; it's mostly full so you might have to wait for a table if you want to eat. that's okay. It's fun to stand or sit at the bar and watch the action, while you sip a delicious Umbrian wine or try something from further afield.

“Barolo heaven!!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. It has a funky atmosphere, the food was brilliant and the wine was to die for. To see so many vintage barolo's...hmmm!!

As someone else has stated, the food is seasonal but with a great twist. Finding the place was not so hard in the end, but be prepared to go down some small lanes. Amazingly, taxi's will pick you up outside the front door...when you see the width of the road, you will know what I mean.

Overall, I would say this restaurant is one of our favourites in Perugia, and probably one of the best.

“A great osteria in Perugia”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

I love so much to come in this place. The owner, Filippo, is welcoming everyone and making people feeling confortable like at home. You can sit in a table for a good dinner, or just sitting at the bar for a glass of wine.

The list of their wines is incredibly long and you can always discover new products, the owner and the staff will always suggest something curious and new.

The food is good, the menu isn't too wide but the quality of the products and the presentation is excellent.

Absolutely suggested, for a romantic dinner or just to drink a glass of wine with some friends.
