“A very good meal for those who care where their food comes from.”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Our meals at Al Mangiar Bene are true to the name of the restaurant. Here is a place that you eat well, indeed very well. The restaurant takes great pains to source its food and wine locally from organic ( "biodynamic") farms and wineries. The servings are both delicious and plentiful. The value is also very good and the wine list has choices that are excellent as well as reasonably priced. The restaurant is located just off the Corso Vanucci, the main pedestrian street of Perugia's historic center. The dining room is a charming space with vaulted ceilings, which can be a bit noisy when the restaurant is full. The most recent time that we visited was on a Saturday night and despite a full house, the service was still excellent.

“A typical Italian restaurant”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

This restaurant is a few steps away from the main street but is certainly worth walking down the stairs to enjoy the vaulted room where friendly waiters will do their best to make you satisfied. The food is typical of Umbria (I recommend the antipasti and particularly their specialty - "al mangiar bene"-, as well as the "primi". The wines are excellent. As the place is haunted by locals, I recommend it definitely.

“Great pizza in the heart of Perugia”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

Very good selection of pizzas and other Umbrian specialties. Kid-Friendly. Don't know if A/C wasn't working that day or we were just seated close to the oven, but it was warm. Overall, just very good and would recommend going again...and we did, just a few nights later.

“hidden gem”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

a local directed us to this hidden restaurant for lunch down some stairs and off the main square. The pasta was delicious, as was the local organic wine and cheeses. The meal was good value and we returned the following evening for dinner.
