I've been to this restaurant 2 times, once with an international group of colleagues and the second time with some friends. We all enjoyed the great quality of the ingredients and the special way they were prepared. In both events we ordered starters, first, and second dishes, once also a dessert. The waiter suggested us the wine to order with high professionalism. The recipes prepared with truffles are very tasty, the desserts are nothing special, but still very good. The price was not high, for the quality of the food we were expecting it was more expensive.

Last week we (my daughter and I) went to have dinner here for the second time. The first time was during last spring - we still remembered it.

This time we ordered (1 portion of each dish, to be shared between us):
Starter: a dish of different kinds of local cheese and sorts of dried sausage and ham, served with local honey and marmelade;
First course: agnolotti (a kind of big round ravioli) made with smashed potatoe dough, filled with chestnuts and ricotta, with a sauce of ... chestnuts and ricotta ... wow!
Main course: lamb with grated truffle.
Desert: a kind of chocolate muffin.
A bottle of local red wine. And: in the case you don't finish it, it gets a cork and you take it away.

Everything was well prepared and cooked, waiters were very kind, the price was really acceptable for what we got.

Suggestion: if you want to have dinner here during weekends, book at least the day before. Otherwise you may be unlucky ... http://www.osteriaapriori.it/info-e-contatti

We were so happy our B&B recommended this small restaurant (do make reservations, the place fills up even on week nights). The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, prepared from very high quality locally sourced ingredients. The dishes were traditionally based with slight updating. If you happen to be vegetarian there are plenty of wonderful options. The wine selection is quite amazing and the staff helpful in helping you choose. The restaurant also sells wine and local products... quite tempting, too bad we could't carry some home with us.

Had lunch here and the food was excellent. We had a primo of maltagliata with pancetta and cherry tomatoes and secondo of rabbit with black olives and potatoes and another of pork with potatoes and truffles. All the dishes were first rate. Lunchtime was busy and food was a bit slow to emerge from the (small) kitchen but quality was high and service friendly, and we would go back.

After a horrible start at another restaurant (the other restaurant was even listed as number one by Trip Advisor for Perugia) we left and asked for a restaurant recommendation at one of the hotels in the Perugia old town. What a great recommendation this was!

Osteria A Priori is difficult to find if you are not looking for it. It doubles as a wine shop during the day with a small restaurant in back and upstairs. If you are lucky enough to get a table here, you will certainly not be disappointed. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating to our vegetarian needs, and the daily menu was a lovely selection of options that made it difficult for us to decide what to order.

We had a wonderful traditional "slow food" meal including antipasti, primi, vino, and dolci and yet still walked out with a bill for two for only about 40 Euros. What a great find! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone except big groups, and this is simply due to the small size of the restaurant space. If you visit Perugia don't miss this lovely little spot (and be sure to pick up some of their great local wines to take with you when you leave).
