“Superb”

I liked the food and the chef.

Children running around were unwelcome, but they were children - just should not have been in the restaurant gone 11.00?

“Amazing Meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2014 via mobile

This is a must place to eat when in Perugia. My wife and I stayed at the adjacent hotel and were surprised to find such an amazing restaurant just outside our room. It is slightly more expensive but well worth it especially if you've been eating lots of pizza and pasta around Italy. The staff were fantastic, food amazing and the location just as good. Loved it and would recommend it to others.

“Good in parts but disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2014

This restaurant has become part of the beautiful Castello di Monterone just outside Perugia and is open during the evening not at lunch, (possible exception being Sunday?)
Unless you are on a business account and staying at the hotel, a meal here can be regarded as a treat for a special occasion…or can it? We thought not as there were so many flaws and at the prices charged we expected better, much better. The entrance (unless you are staying in the hotel), consists of 2 steep stair cases, most uninviting. (We asked to take the lift back up as the restaurant is in the bowls of the hotel).
Difficult to read the menu written in fine floral script at a badly lit table. We pointed this out and the waiter brought a lamp.
Throughout, service was very slow. We were a party of 3 amongst another 15 diners who appeared to be hotel guests.
The tiny bits a pieces offered to us were all delicious but the standard of the cooking of the things we chose to eat, was disappointing to say the least. One pasta dish was good the other inedible, dry and hard triangles of pasta with crispy bits of artichoke on top. The meat was always beautifully cooked. The accompanying vegetables were not al dente but almost raw and at times when trying to cut them, they flew off the plate! Hard and indigestible, we left them.
The desserts were not at all special and so we thoroughly enjoyed all the tiny chocolates and biscuit titbits we were given at the end of the meal.
This was supposed to be a birthday treat for our friend who has lived in Perugia for over 50 years. She has treated us to Michelin starred meals and although we do not expect this restaurant to ever receive one, we had hope that it would be an enjoyable and exquisite meal. Sadly we had made the wrong assumption.

“Lovely Restaurant With Great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

This is a relatively small restaurant in the Castello di Monterone. The food is teriffic -- with great Risotto and Duck the most memorable but all the dishes were delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great as well. I can't imagine better in the area.

“Great food”

Great views and location, interesting use of local ingredients. My steak tatare with oysters was sublime. One of the most exciting restaurants in the area
