This place was recommended to us as the best restaurant by locals. The service was so so, the food was not so great and its one of the most expensive restaurants in Perugia. This is the place locals go to be seen and see others. Its in a great location but if you want good food I wouldn't recommend it. Also, there wasn't many choices for kids. The only great thing of our meal were the homemade fries which look like potato chips and tasted great.

It looked so promising and in such a great location. After 30 mins the first drops of rain came and fairly soon the wind picked up and the first lightning flash. Well you would have thought Armageddon had arrived with the staff ignoring all the customers to whisk the table cloths and cutlery inside. Being
British and used to a bit of rain we thought it all quite amusing and eventually conceded defeat and went inside. They continued to ignore us and as we waited patiently for a table all the non Italians got presented with their bill, whether or not they wanted it (we wanted dessert and coffee). In effect it was 'p*** off you lot, we can't be bothered with you'. As we wandered back through town every other place was still humming, parasols still up, happy customers still eating outside and joking about the weather. Happily we bumped into friends and had our dessert and drinks with them. Don't waste your time at the Cesarina, because they won't waste any on you.

This place was recommended to us by staff at a nearby museum. The location is excellent and the food is not expensive -- we had two courses each, water, wine, and coffee for a total of 40 euros. However, it appeared that we were not really welcome there. We sat for 15 minutes before getting menus, had to ask for bread, and had to go inside the restaurant to ask for coffee and again to ask for the bill. We were not given an ice bucket for our white wine, although other people were -- maybe we did not spend enough. The staff had lots of time to have long conversations with other customers and to chat with each other, but were indifferent to us. Although the food was OK, I would not go back -- there are much better places nearby.

We had a lovely meal - simple food, good service. Place was empty of tourists on a Thursday night. Filled up with locals as we ate. Price very reasonable.

Italian Friends took us to this place and we had high expectations. They did not materialize.
The antipasti had too much bread (in various combinations, but bread nevertheless) and almost no Umbrian salumi or other cold cuts for which the area is famous.

For main course we had roasted piccino (pigeon), which came rather dry, baked skamorza (a local smoked cheese), so rich that the person who ordered it only ate a small portion and "donated" the rest, and still we could not finish it, between the four of us. The artichokes, dipped in barter and fried were dry and rich. Other entries we tasted were veal paillard (veal lightly grilled and rather tasteless) and some other veal with a hot tomatoes sauce. All sides were additional and portions were small.

We drank a local Montefalco (red) and followed it with a taste of grapa (a "digestivo"). Service was rather distracted and it took forever to get the check. It was not expensive but I think the food was rather ordinary. The olive oil came in water bottle and not very good, which is a shame, given that Umbria is one of the top three best oil producing regions in Italy. The ambiance was pleasant and the owner seems to have a taste for single malts, because an impressive collection of those was displayed in the area of the bar. There were no tourists at all, only locals, the place was completely full and everybody seemed to be having great time. As for me, I just have to continue my search for a restaurant I really like in Perugia.
