After a week in Italy these were the first Roman remains we saw. The theatre is heavily restored, but well worth a walk round as it gives you a good understanding of the scale of the town in Roman times.
Near the car park a short distance from the town of Gubbio stands this small Roman theater. I visited only outside looking from behind the fence, and I think it is quite sufficient for a few €uros you can visit it inside but not worth it, too small and there is not much to see.
The Teatro Romano is located outside the old city and is only about 5 minute walk from the town square. This is a fantastic place to visit as the old building really gives you an idea as to what it must of been like back in the day. Just a short walk from it is the museum with amazing artefacts from the area and built on top of an old Roman house. Fantastic to see the old walls and floors. small admission fee gives you access to both Museum and Teatro given you get views and great photo ops.
The Teatro Romano is located outside the old city and visible from
the main access street. A large part of the theatre is in excellent
condition. Visitors are requested to view and photograph from the outside of the complex.
The site is well tended and the theatre is accessible... Climb to the top and imagine what it was like when it was full. Don't miss the really interesting archaeological museum with mosaics and other artifacts... On the foundations of a Roman house...
There was little signage to describe the location and the surrounding area is a bit overgrown. There are much nicer, more interesting sights in this town.
