Very nice agriturismo in the country side of Umbria between Perugia and Gubbio. Not easy to find but beautiful views over the green hills. Also nice swimming pool, garden and relaxing wellness area as well as excellent diners with great service.

Heaven on Earth.... Paola and Eric have created a beautiful/peaceful retreat in the hills of Umbria-- 5 Stars!!!! Everything about our stay was special and everyone on the staff can't seem do enough to make it so. We were the only couple that wasn't a return guest staying there and I can see why -- we'll be back too!

I really can't say enough good things about this place. This was our second trip to Locanda del Gallo and the qualities that brought us back include the beautiful location, the helpful, friendly staff and last but not least the incredible cuisine. Jimmy (the resident chef from Sri Lanka) has some kind of rare gift - he never cooks by recipe and never actually tastes the food. "It's all in the mind", he explained to us, like some kind of gastronomic guru. I will never be able to look at crepes the same again (sniff).

It's both the big and little things that you really appreciate here - the immaculately kept grounds, the breathtaking view from the swimming pool, the hot tea that awaits you after the turkish steam bath, the antique asian furniture, the incense that graces the corridors every evening around diner time - the list goes on and on… Staying with Paola and Irish is kind of like staying with a wealthy aunt and uncle - there is a warmth and familiarity that feels like home, but a home where every need and wish is taken care of.

One thing I want to especially mention is their complete dedication to customer satisfaction. We received a particularly impressive demonstration of this on the forth night when Jimmy was temporarily replaced by another less qualified chef. After diner (actually, during the diner) I voiced our dissatisfaction towards Paola who was extremely understanding. Both she and Irish apologized profusely and proceeded to rectify the situation by making sure that Jimmy returned the following day. In addition, they offered us a bottle of Brunello (!) on the house. Their reaction made us feel respected and cared for and we truly appreciated it.

I'm sure that we will be back again - the location is absolutely gorgeous, there are any number of beautiful medieval towns within driving distance and - if (like us) you are into wine - there are *innumerous* amazing wineries in Umbria, waiting to be discovered. As an insider tip - check out http://www.paolobea.com/. Their Sangrantino got 97 point by Gary Vaynerchuk, is truly spectacular and at roughly fifty Euros is a real bargain!

Room Tip: Would recommend rooms above ground level to avoid any noise from the veranda.

This is a magical place and we cannot find enough words to describe it. The hosts, Paola and Irish are incredibly helpful. The food prepared by Jimmy the chef and his assistants Ivo and Pia is sublime. The room is simple yet finely decorated with lots of detailed touch. Getting up with the nature and relaxing at the chlorine free pool are something you don't get everyday. Nothing is too much trouble here and we would love to come back again!

The house is beautiful, the setting is breathtaking and the food is delicious and all these lead to a fantastic holiday but the incredibly warm hearted hospitality of everyone who runs and works at Locanda di Gallo made it a truly memorable holiday.

This is a very special place to visit. You will most certainly be looked after and if you have any special food requirements they are all happy to oblige. The food was healthy and tasty with a variety of dishes. The yoga space is surrounded by trees, reachable through a forest path. Each room is unique and they are all well equipped for all types of season. The staff are friendly, and welcoming, always smiling and it is evident that everyone, including the staff are happy there. The well being centre has a hammam feel with a steam room, showers, relax room and massage facilities. The swimming pool overlooks a spectacular view of the Umbrian landscape. There is always something to explore here without having to venture too far. Definite venue to return to.
