We stayed here for three nights last summer. It was the best value of our two week trip, the price included a simple but adequate continental breakfast. The rooms were small but had everything we needed including air conditioning. We had beautiful views from our window, even though we were on the first floor (I think there is a 10 Euro premium for 2nd floor because the views are supposedly better, but were thought ours was great). The walk to the Basilica is uphill about 10 minutes, but everything is on a hill Assisi, plus the walk is enchanting, past beautiful shops and architecture. There is supposedly no parking within the walls, but we found a place on the street less than a block away for overnight when we checked in - no ticket the next morning. We did move the car the next day to the public lot above the Basilica. The proprietor/desk lady and her cat seemed to always be there, though I'm sure if we were night owls, the desk would have been empty. There is a laptop computer available from the desk for email checking for a small fee. We arrived around 8:30 pm and needed a place to eat. The woman at the desk recommended a pizza shop a few blocks away. Definitely the best pizza we had in all of Italy. It was a small local place, we seemed to be the only tourists there, but the service and ambiance was great. The hotel is definitely not luxurious, but very charming and comfortable. I highly recommend it for budget minded folks who don't want to take big chances. Assisi was our favorite town (well maybe tied with Corniglia in Cinque Terre) and we hope to return someday.

When I opened the shutters and looked out at the Umbrian hills i fell in love with Assisi and this hotel. Staff was efficient and helpful. The room was stunning and the location of the hotel excellent for touring Assisi.

Hotel is either up or down a flight of stairs so bring a small bag!!!

We absolutely loved our stay here. The location was great. It was like staying in a history book. We were given a room with a million dollar view, it was breathtaking. Our host, Enrico, was the best. He recommended two restaurants to us. We ate at both and they were fantastic. Enrico also gave us other local tidbits of information He even prepared a latte mocha for my wife in the morning even though he really didn't know the ingredients! He made our stay the most memorable of our trip. I might add that Assisi was one of our favorite cities on our trip.

We spent two night in this charming hotel in the lovely town of Assisi. The room was small, but comfortable and very clean. We stayed on the ground floor (which was very convenient as there is no elevator) but still had a lovely view from our window. The breakfast was rather basic: coffee, some pastries and fruit. The staff of the hotel was outstanding: very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We arrived late in th evening, and Gabriela phoned several restaurants to find us a place to eat at this late hour. She recommended I Monaci (which is a five minutes walk from the hotel). The food was so wonderful that we ended up going there for all our meals in Assisi, and we were never disappointed. We had to leave very early in the morning, before breakfast time, and the staff arranged an earlier breakfast for us. The only drawback of the hotel ais that it's long walk up (and I mean literally up) the street and then up the stairs to get to the entrance. But it's Assisi. :) We definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again.

Three American women traveling together found the JFI Hermitage a most excellent inn from which to begin their Italian holiday. There are nine rooms at this facility, five at the main level, four upstairs. Like all of Assisi, one must be ready to deal with the stairs as there is no elevator. The location in town was superb, views to the west fabulous, the bathrooms new and well-equipped. The only downside was the lack of operating air conditioning in two of the three rooms we used. Definitely an excellent value for the money.
